I don't think AIDS is caused by nor causes the breakdown of families and
values. It's statements like this that cause me to discount
much of what else is written in this article.
Once again the Eryes lose l credibility by misrepresenting the easily checked
facts, here are a few crime rates are historically very low, teen pregnancy has
been on a steady decline for sometime and high school drop out rates have been
declining g pretty steady for a couple decades now.
The Eyre's are amazing at family dynamics. Just look at their family! I am
so impressed with the amazing things this family does!I agree that
there is a fundamental rot happening in our society when it comes to families
and relationships. Like a wooden bench that has slowly rotted, we
may not see the full affects until someone sits on the bench (a crisis in
society). I fear that men's hearts have waxed cold towards each other.
AIDS alone doesn't account for the disintegration of the family. However,
in some families affected by AIDS it definitely can cause a strain emotionally,
financially, in some cases fidelity, addiction, being a victim so on and so
forth. Same with cancers, diabetes and other diseases.Divorce
affects families. Mostly on the children if any are involved. Studies show that
children from divorce families are likely to be divorced some time down the
road.Teen pregnancy affects families, education, finances etc.If there was one thing that destroys families, then it would be easy to
target and eliminate. My thought is there are many ways in which a family unit
can be destroyed. Many creative ways are being devised either on purpose or
unintentionally to do just that. Why? If you can destroy family
units, then something else will step in to fill the void. For example a kind,
caring and compassionate government that "doesn't get" divorced or
fail you. A gang member who has your back. Some other organization. Do these
groups or institutions provide an equivalent substitute for a loving mother and
a loving father? In my opinion they don't.
It's great to draw attention to the deterioration of the nuclear family.
It is clear to me that the need for both parents to work to make ends meet (and
the subsequent lack of parenting that results) is the major culprit in this
deterioration. The Eyres are a great family to emulate. But the one major
advantage they had that most families will never have, is the luxury of Linda
staying at home to raise their kids. Do you all want to strengthen
the family unit? Insist on raising wages so one income is enough to live above
the poverty line.
The Latter Day Saints have been warning of this for over a century. Not really
that complicated an issue. Without a father and mother in the home teaching
morals and values society will continue to disintigrate.
To me it is evident that the economy has attacked the family structure. Two
working spouses, sometimes in multiple jobs to make end's meet is not going
to be good for a marriage or family. In this case the chicken and egg is easy
to define. T
These things are problems because we make them problems. We are hard on anyone
that doesn't fit the mold. The 22 year old widow with a 1 year is not
considered to have a child at risk or a problem or antifamily. Why is the woman
who had a child in college and her child to be pitied and pointed at when
discussing the downfall of society? The child of the single mom even has a
Iiving dad. An attack against the family would be wide scale removal of children
by the majority from families who don't fit the mold. An attack on the
family would be the absolution of relations and all babies being made in labs
and gestated via incubator and raised by the government. An attack on the family
would be the government decided every adult lived alone in a single dormitory
