Tomahawk RedAre the Ute recruiters desperately scouring the nation
for canceled D2 football programs in hopes of finding another bowl worthy backup
QB? History has shown that this is most successful strategy to date
that works for struggling commuter school programs.
Good to see Bronson back. Kanuch was also back today. I'm glad the team is
starting to play with all of their best players together. Jamaal has also
started doing more with the first team which means better chemistry with Taysom
for games after Conncecticut.I was starting to worry that the
team's first time together would be at UConn which could be a problem.
While some players are undoubtedly behind with conditioning, I think we will be
fine if we get the whole team playing this next week.I would rather
have a couple injuries with the first team offense/defense playing together than
have no injuries but no continuity.
I'm still deciding how I feel about all the suspensions for the UCONN game.
I understand there needs to be accountability but I'm still deciding if it
needs to be a game that also punishes the whole team that had nothing to do with
specific infractions. It's easy to see both sides. I'm just hoping
we still get the win and don't see Virginia #2. That would really blow.
TR,"Have they already boxed up the Heisman to ship and etched
his name on it for that long TD pass? What are they waiting
for?"Probably waiting to see how good the Ute QB's are just
to make sure they're sending it to the right guy. You're right, they
should just ship it to BYU.
Once again the comments to a BYU article begin with another snide remark from a
Ute-fan. That's becoming too typical and the obvious obsession growing old.
It simply invites more of the same from Y fans and accomplishes absolutely
nothing worthwhile. That said, I can understand why some Ute fans
have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to quarterback play. From reports
I've been reading, Kyle is not very happy with fall camp play from any of
his 6 quarterbacks. Their numbers have been dismal up to this point. For
Utah's sake, that better improve quickly. As far as BYU goes,
getting somewhat back to the program glory days when long-ball TD passes were
made on a regular basis would make fans ecstatic this season. Few plays in
football are more exciting than long pass completions. It pumps up both the team
and its fans very quickly. They are often game-changers.Hopefully,
these types of pass completions will carry-over into the season games. But for
right now, they're a good omen.
He is going to tear teams like UNLV and Savannah state(rivalry game senior day)
and maybe even Virginia apart.I have no doubt in my mind byu will
win 9 games this season, just as Bingham High would do against this schedule.
@ Chris B:And there's no doubt he would tear Utah apart this
season, as well. Even the Ute athletic director could see that. That's the
primary reason he cancelled their game this year... and next. He's
obviously waiting for Taysom to graduate... as are you. Clarify
something for the rest of us, Chris. Are you more sad about Utah's tough
schedule or BYU's easier schedule? The first keeps invoking tears and
excuses from you, while the second keeps your jealously and sarcasm flowing.
@ChrisBHe is going to tear teams like UNLV and Savannah state(rivalry game
senior day) and maybe even Virginia apart.I have no doubt in my mind
byu will win 9 games this season, just as Bingham High would do against this
schedule.--------------------it's well documented
that ute fans have made their excuses knowing they are looking at another losing
season. Under Whitt they have gone 4-5, 3-6 and last year 2-7 in conference play
and now seeing all the problems they're having at QB (AGAIN) they're
looking at a potential continuation of this trend and a possible 1-8 finish in
the Pac12 this year. Funny thing is ute fans whine about their schedule being
too tough but in reality they've only had one season with a top 10 SOS.
Their first 2 seasons in the Pac12 their SOS was weaker than BYU's SOS was
last year and yet they still couldn't win. Ute fans galore put down
BYU's schedule last year as being too easy. Excuses, excuses,
excuses. That's all the utes and their fans are good for these days.
Strength of schedule is only relevant if you have a winning record. Otherwise,
it is meaningless.
BYU still has a tougher schedule then any with the WAC, and MWC. Utes didn't compete well in the WAC, or MWC, so their chances in the PAC
11 are nonexistent. The record proves my point.
Chris BSalt Lake City, UT"I have no doubt in my mind byu
will win 9 games this season, just as Bingham High would do against this
schedule."Yes, Chris, and we know that Bingham High (and maybe
4A Timpview High) would also go 4-8 against the Ute's schedule. So just what is your point?
