The courageous makers of this film must be praised for standing up to the modern
Hollywood, which has an agenda of promoting substance abuse and wanton
sexuality. Part of this agenda includes an attempt to destroy traditional
marriage and family. Unfortunately, an impressionable public
has begun to imitate what is shown on television and movies. As a result, the
rates of illegitimacy and disease are skyrocketing. The irrefutable
fact is that wanton, uncontrolled sexuality does have harmful effects for both
the individual and society. Shame on those who seek to impose this harm. That is why good wholesome movies such as this are so important.
@John Charity SpringHow, exactly, does war - the most violent of all
human interactions meet with your lofty standards? Regardless of how it is
presented war is about killing and destruction.
@CHS Abraham Lincoln famously stated "Whenever the vicious
portion of the population shall be permitted to gather in bands of hundreds and
thousands, and burn churches, ravage and rob provision stores, throw printing
presses into rivers, shoot editors, and hang and burn obnoxious persons at
pleasure, and with impunity; depend on it, this government cannot last."That is your directly applicable analogy for why brave soldiers must
defend this Country at all costs.
@JCSI never said that soldiers should not defend this Country at all
costs. I, in fact, spent twenty years doing just that. I have seen more human
suffering at the hands of other humans that I care to remember. I have armed
airplanes to the teeth to destroy property and kill people, and have driven down
the streets of Baghdad in an armed HMMWV shooting at enemy combatants while
trying to avoid IEDs. I have seen many "traditional marriages and
families" destroyed by driving over a Pepsi can. The destruction of that
family is just as real as the destruction by infidelity and "uncontrolled
sexuality." That being said, it is hard for me to understand
the endorsement of movies that depict war and violence while condemning movies
that depict sexuality. Trust me, if you had ever been in an actual war, you
would not endorse the "Saints and Soldiers" glossing over of war. It is
not wholesome in any sense.
This is a great movie and anyone who is interested in history, sacrifice and
doing what is right will want to see it. Besides the tanks were just cool.
