Nice enough. But that's not hard to come by (see Ryan Tilby). What
I'm looking for, especially in our meetings, is some wailing, rocking
versions of our hymns. Not musically inclined myself -- but something
Clapton-esque. Not allowed currently according to the Handbook... but one can
only hope that the Church will get modern leaving behind the stodgy arrangements
of of our great-great ancestors.
While I was in the Mission Training Center (formerly the Language Training
Mission) I became acquainted with an Elder who did some amazing hymnal
arrangements on the piano. I wonder whatever became of him. There are so many
talented musicians and I would like to see and hear more of their work.
@Brent T., have you not heard his rendition of I Am a Child of God? Sounds
pretty Clapton-esque to me. I think the whole album is fantastic
and strikes a great balance between capturing the spiritual feeling and meaning
of the hymns while adding a modern take on the arrangements. Loved it! Mr.
Howington is legit.
