I keep reading in the news that Israel is destroying militant tunnels. If that
is true then the Israel is to blame for much of their own problems.Instead of focusing on militant tunnels, Israel should focus on destroying
terrorist tunnels, they wouldn't have to deal with so much terrorism. Go
after the actual terrorists Israel, the militants ought to be your second
Jimmy Carter, having won the title Worst President, now insists on continuing
the battle for the title Worst Ex-President, even though there's no one
even close, in the running. And, it's funny how the leftist
media -- normally laser-focused and hyper-sensitive to such things -- completely
ignores his rabid, unreasoning anti-Semitism.
For every Hamas terrorist there is an ultra-orthodox Israeli signing, "This
land is mine, God gave this land to me." Neither will peacefully relinquish
any territory and Israel has legitimatized the principle of title-by-conquest.
The Palestinians naturally assume that if/when they conquer land, it will
legitimately be theirs.
Every person in this world has the legal right to defend himself against ANYONE
who attack him, kill his children, burrow under his property or fire rockets at
him.Why is Obama, Kerry and Carter oblivious to that simple
truth?Every police force in the United States has the right to stop
violence when it can be clearly determined who is attacking whom. Hamas is the
ATTACKER. Israel is the ATTACKEE. Obama has no use for Israel. His friend,
Kerry, has no use for Israel. Carter has made it clear throughout his life that
he has no use for Israel. Why then did God chose the Jews to be His chosen
people? Is it possible that those who run governments know nothing about God or
His purposes and that they favor terrorists over God?
@4601The ultra-orthodox are not sending hundreds of bombs daily at
Palestinain civilians. Unlike the hamas terrorists are doing to
procuradorfiscal: "And, it's funny how the leftist media -- normally
laser-focused and hyper-sensitive to such things -- completely ignores his
rabid, unreasoning anti-Semitism."Understanding the difference
between Nationalism and Judaism must be hard because Israel Tries to blur them
and you fall for it. They are calling for their enemy "Israel" to fall,
Israel is not "judaism" Israel is not the Vatican of the Jews. But then
again I'm sure Carter knows far more about this because he's paying
attention and has insight from his many dealings around the world, more than
Lingquist or folks in Tooele.
Before you call Carter "disgusting and puerile," why don't you read
a little history about what Carter actually accomplished with the Camp David
Accords? He SAVED Israel from destruction. It's also
instructive to see how he did it -- by diplomacy and an appeal to the humanity
of the leaders, Begin and Sadat. Carter may well be the most remarkable diplomat
this nation has seen in the last 50 years. Then maybe your
unbelievably one-sided view (not surprising for a lawyer) might soften a little
toward the people of Palestine.
“I was disgusted and angry to read former president Jimmy Carter’s
puerile column . . . ?”Really Dan? Come on man . . . You
calling Jimmy Carter’s well-thought-out column”puerile” is
like a GW calling Lincoln a bad leader.“Puerile?”
That’s descriptive of what passes for Conservative thought these days,
but it’s not at all descriptive of ANYTHING Jimmy Carter has ever
written.Carter’s points are valid, although inconsistent with
your preferred reality. The only way we’re going to have progress in
the Middle East is through change. But Netanyahu, wants to maintain a status quo
of Israel standing on the neck of Palestine. So you think Hamas
should not be recognized as a “legitimate political actor?” . . .
Because you say they are terrorists.Let me remind you that the early
Mormons were also considered to be terrorists by mainstream America. But things
change don’t they? Things MUST change in order for any progress to be
made. The status quo in the Middle East is NOT working. We need
constructive change there . . . And not more overly-simplistic and puerile
“Conservative” columns demanding the perpetuation of an
unsustainable status quo.
