Offense is looking GREAT! Mark my words - we will be the surprise team in the
Pac 12 and will go 7-5 and WILL go to a great bowl game. Coach Christensen is
going to get this NASCAR going to the tune of 35 points a game, just watch. Go UTES.
So just how fast IS a 270-lbs TE? I don't recall seeing us ever having one
like THAT before. I hope he adequately fills Murphy's shoes.Go
@Naval Vetyou don't remember John Madsen in 2004? The guy was
6'5 and about 240lbs. Although he played basketball instead of baseball. I
see him having a similar career. It seems that he is very motivated to be
successful having not made it in the minor leagues he's shifted his
work/efforts to another sport. "Mark it down" Chris B
I have to think that if Gonzales can catch a tiny baseball on the run, he can
certainly catch a football. Athletic and a big target...he will be very
exciting to watch as a tight end!The Utes seem to be going about
their business with a quiet confidence this year and I must admit, I like what
I'm seeing. Football can't get here soon enough.Go Utes!
TFUDD:I do remember Madsen, but Madsen wasn't 270-lbs.
I'm just wondering how fast a 270-lbs TE moves. I also wonder how he might
look on the other side of the ball. Like at LB for example. We're kinda
thin there with the injuries to Paul and Hale. Since Utah is looking to employ
a lot more nickle packages, speed at the LB spot won't be as critical as in
a 4-3 formation.
This is an exciting prospect. I hope he has a great run at Utah
“I was recruited out of high school by, I want to say, six Pac-10 teams at
the time,” he said......and he decided to walk on at Utah....this shows a
lot of respect for the Ute Program
Naval Vet, some big guys can really move. I know it's an inferior level of
ball, but Joe Don Duncan at Dixie was 6'3" and 268, and he was
unstoppable as a pass-catcher. Even from the D-II level, he was initially graded
as a 4th-6th round pick, but had some injuries making him unable to perform in
any all-star games, running events at the combine or team workouts, so I'm
not sure what his status is now.
