It makes absolutely no sense to place Dye as a running back--the deepest
position on the entire team. There are already four fantastic running backs, and
there are not enough carries to go around for them.
@John Charity Spring - you are right but Trey won't run right in the middle
like what we saw last year. Many times last year was right in the middle with no
gains. He sure looks like his dad back to the past! Welcome aboard
James - oops Trey!
The Cougars have him listed as a running back, but it sounds like they plan to
use him as a punt return specialist. I would love to see BYU have a punt
returner take one all the way to the house. It has been a long time since BYU
had any credible punt return threat. Maybe this year will give us that?
Adam Hine is a very credible punt return threat. If people behind him
hadn't done stupid things he would have had several returns for TD's.
@JohnLet us show our support and let's not all be coaches.
Does JD Falslev ring any bells???
I guess this means everyone can dust off all of their old "You punt you
Dye" signs, and bring them back.
I don' hear much talk about Dye replacing last year's scatback and
punt returner, JD Falslev. I thought Dye might step into that role, and sounds
like he might as an H-back. But haven't heard much comparison between him
and JD or if anyone thinks there is a basis of comparison. JD was so shifty and
below the radar, with his pass catching too. Does Dye compare in ability or
stats from high school? Looking forward to seeing him play, but as usual, hope
the hype doesn't get in the way of what he can really do as a Freshmen and
that expectations don't get overblown - same with all the team and
especially the untested newcomers. To me as a fan, I don't want any
letdowns, but can live with realistic possibilities and slow growth, don't
want to see anyone so pressured that they can't measure up, Go team!
Hine returned kickoffs. Falslev returned punts.
"That doesn't even fit in terms of making sense". I like it.
That's going to be my new thing.
I love the Texas football recruiting connection. We just added another great
recruit from Texas this week. BYU has a few kids from Texas so I guess
recruiting as an independent has not hurt BYU like our friends on the hill seem
to think. I wonder how well u does in Texas?
I stand corrected. Hines returns were kickoffs. None the less he is really
good at it and I look forward to him busting one this year.
Let's not get down under on an obsession with the college football team in
Salt Lake City. The Cougars just need to take care of business and be the best
they can be. Making comparisons between the Cougars and Utes accomplishes
@John Charity SpringWhere would you put him? He is too small to be a
WR in today's college football. A kick returner maybe? His Dad was the
little engine that could. I remember him (James) was an artist in the open
