Of course they won eleven games, they play in the mid America conference
Good to see the schedule issues ironed out. Go Cougars!
Wow, can't wait for both of these barn burners. I'll bet NBC will buy
out the Cougs TV deal to broadcast these games.
With them added to the schedule, BCS here we come!
Didn't USU beat their Heisman candidate quarterback last year at the bowl
game. They seem to like using a high octane offense that can't beat a
Chris BI don't really care if our 2015 P5 games are on the
road. I'm not afraid to play anybody anywhere. Unlike Chris Hill who said
that the schedule would be too hard to play Michigan and BYU in the same year
and backed out of the game. You utah fans always say the game against
BYU is an automatic win, but it's been super close almost every year. Sure,
utah has won, but it is far from an automatic win. If it was, Hill easily would
have been willing to schedule us these next 2 years. Unfortunately, he
didn't have the guts to do it. He understands that even though utah has
beaten BYU recently, it is still a difficult game to win.
This is huge. I'm sure all the fans that attend the games are overjoyed by
this announcement. I for one, can't wait to play ISU in four weeks. The
crowd will be pumped.I actually do feel bad for the tens of
thousands of season ticket holders that want big name opponents in the stadium
at least half the time. Ask for a refund or free cotton candy.
So many Ute fans so few comments of value.NI may be bad in 2018 but
USC/UCLA et al might be bad as well. BYU needed to fill holes in the schedule
and these games did that.
Why can't you schedule home/home (multiple times) with fellow independent
ARMY? I always respected and enjoyed Utah's games against Air Force and
Navy! And would feel the same about Army.
Be careful who you are making fun of. NIU has been to a BCS bowl more recently
than any school around here.
Glad to see the series with NIU, yet another team on the schedule that has
played in a BCS bowl in the last five years. While I'm less
excited about ISU, I am glad they were able to even out the 2015 schedule by
adding an additional home game. Bummer for fans who attend the home games
because the home schedule has been and looks to continue to be horrible. Of
course the schedule is great for those of us outside the mountain west who watch
every game on national television and can attend many of the road games against
BYU fans:Why don't you guys just schedule home and homes with
8-9 power conference teams every year? You want to be considered a
big boy right?100% of the big boys schedule 8-9 games against power
conference teams.Why doesn't byU?
@Taysom4HeismanUtah's OOC for 2015 is Utah State, Fresno State,
Michigan. Utah's not afraid of playing a bunch of decent teams.
I just got grief last night from a buddy of mine with BYU season tickets about
the UTES playing Idaho State this year. Hey, whatever gets you to 6 wins right?
Just want to see if he says something today about this quality pickup game.
NIU is not a bad get. They've had better success in the BCS than BYU (i.e.
they've been there, done that). Ironically NIU has a leg up on Big 12
expansion by bringing the Chicago market and since they are in the right time
Taysom4Heisman:"Unlike Chris Hill who said that the schedule
would be too hard to play Michigan and BYU in the same year and backed out of
the game."Utah didn't "back out" of any game vs.
our indy-irrelevant little brother. There were never games contracted for 2014
or 2015 to begin with. And furthermore, what's the difference between
playing Fresno St. vs. the Y? I mean except for the part about how playing
teams in/from California has greater recruiting benefits than doing so likewise
with Utah teams. The cougars aren't a tougher opponent than the
Bulldogs."He understands that even though utah has beaten BYU
recently, it is still a difficult game to win."Not more
difficult than playing FSU. The Bulldogs have a better record against us than
the cougars do."You utah fans always say the game against BYU is
an automatic win, but it's been super close almost every year."You cougar fans always say the game against our little brother down
south is super close, but it's been practically and automatic win every
year. When you go 9-3 vs. another team, then yeah, it's pretty much
Come on! Let's give credit where credit id due. byU actually has a decent
schedule for 2015, even with adding Idaho State. They only have one November
game at home, but at least it's against Fresno State and not Savannah
RE: Chris B."Why don't you guys just schedule home and
homes with 8-9 power conference teams every year?"While your
comment will probably get deleted for "spam" (you've said the same
thing on dozens of other BYU articles), and while you probably don't want
or expect a response to such a ridiculous question, I'll take a stab at it
anyhow.BYU plays a schedule very similar to many other P5 teams.
That would be 3-4 great teams, 3-4 average teams, and 3-4 bad teams. In an
earlier post (that you mysteriously never responded to) I pointed out that BYU
has actually averaged a SOS better than the current national champion FSU during
the independent era. Just because all BYU's opponents aren't in P5
conferences doesn't mean they aren't quality opponents. Indeed, BYU
has played 5-6 teams in the independent era who have played in BCS bowls more
recently than Utah but aren't in P5 conferences.
fan in orem:NIU "backed in" to the BCS...just like
Hawai'i did back in 2007-08: ala undefeated season via weak SOS. They were
not worthy, and that's why they got pounded by 3 TDs vs. Florida St.Johnny Triumph:Cougar fans keep trying to convince the fans
of their big brother on the Hill that their jump from to indy-irrelevance
wasn't a knee-jerk reaction. Even though it was. They claim they've
been planning indy-irrelevance all along. Yet they also claim they only
scheduled a slew of WAC teams because the jump was so sudden (aka, knee-jerk),
and they needed time to build quality schedules.Except that NIU is
scheduled for 2018 and 2020. That's 4-6 yrs out, and 8-10 yrs from
declaring indy-irrelevance. How much time do the cougars need to schedule a
"big boy" slate? And Idaho St? What was all that talk about the
cougars being close to a deal with Penn State?
@fan in orem"Be careful who you are making fun of. NIU has been
to a BCS bowl more recently than any school around here"Yeah,
and how did they do in their BCS bowl?NIU is a great example of how
scheduling down is a great way to artificially inflate your ranking. When they
finally played a decent team, they got boat raced.
@Chris BFunny!!!!Not too hard to schedule 9 teams when
affiliated with a conference. Different story for an independent, particularly
scheduling at the end of the season when conference races are on.Don't forget, we ran from this game for two years. Pretty bad when we
won't schedule a team in our own backyard that are so-called
"mid-major" because we need to play power teams.Probably
ought to not say anything about their inability to schedule the big boys when we
won't play them.
byu fan pretending to be utesrulePac 12,We own you on the field and
it doesn't do us any good to keep beating you year after year. We'd rather disassociate ourselves from you as you are a mid major and
we've moved onto bigger and better things. Its better we play
Fresno which is important for recruiting and then play other big boy teams like
our home and home with Michigan. You guys desperately need to play
us, since you barely can get 2-3 power conference games a years, with very few
at home. WE don't need to play you, we can get a mid major
whenever we want.Yes, it would help byU tremendously to continually
play us.But we don't care that it helps you.
The U fans who post on the Y articles will love this. Last year the Y raised
season ticket prices and created a "premium" portion of the end zones to
do so. 5 rows into the premium section, I shrugged it off and gave my ISU
tickets away to others who wanted to go. But there is a limit and this
announcement hit for me. I won't be giving tickets away for the announced
ISU home game in 2018 because I will no longer be a season ticket holder. My money will go instead to away games with value and interesting
venues. RES does not fit that criteria, but South Bend does.
Yesterday we read an article about how BYU's schedule shouldn't be
mocked because they play Boise State, Houston, Utah State and Texas. But that is
4 games out of 12. Also, although those 4 games are not gimmes; Boise State has
faded the last couple of years despite their glossy record playing a weak
schedule themselves. BYU pounded them and will do so again this year even @
Boise. Texas is the big name but they are a huge question mark with their new
coaching staff. They have faded recently as well. Still they have big time
athletes and size. If BYU played those opponents each week then we would see a
lack of depth take its' toll. That is what Utah faces when playing weaker
PAC 12 teams. You see, the PAC has strong medium and weak teams, but all are big
and strong. Back to BYU, the other two teams are USU and Houston. Look, Houston
could be a challenge but despite the barn burner last year, BYU really outplayed
Houston except for kick off returns and 80 yard TDs. Plus the game is in Provo.
To me, the only tough opponents for BYU this year are USU and Texas.
This SOS talk is absolutely hilarious ! the Y has put together very solid
schedules in the upcoming years. This year may be a little light but time will
tell. Just for giggles let us look at Alabama's schedule for 2014. west
virgina, florida alantic, south. miss , florida ( 4-8 last year) , ole miss ,
arkansas , texas a&m , tennesse ( 3-9 last year ) lsu , miss. st. , west
virgina and auburn . What maybe 4-5 at the most tough opponents there ? If they
were to run the table this year will anybody be questioning their SOS ? I think
not ! A smart program does not want to schedule a top contender every game .
That is like signing your own death warrant . lets look at the pac 12 at seasons
end. 3-4 quality teams , maybe 4 average teams and of course 3-4 awful teams
count on it !
Yes NIU made a BCS bowl by going undefeated against nobody. Although Utah had a
tougher road in the MWC it was not by all that much. When you go undefeated
twice and then have a hard time bowling afterwards, it says a lot. You see what
has happened to Utah and TCU since playing the big boys weekly. Both are below
50% in winning percentage. If BYU fans think they would fair better then they
are mistaken. Playing a few big boys a year is not the same as playing them week
It's as if their trying to re-create the 1984 schedule. That's
Awesome! Maybe they will get a 6-6 Miami of Ohio team in their bowl game. Dejavu
all over again!
RE: Chris B."We'd rather disassociate ourselves from you as
you are a mid major and we've moved onto bigger and better things."Would you PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell us what it means to
"disassociate ourselves from you." Right now that looks like it means
"by posting more frequently on your discussion boards, by reading more
articles about BYU, etc." Seriously, I would like to know what it means for
a Utah fan to "move on."
@ taylormade1The PAC-12 had 6 teams finished ranked last season with
a couple more receiving votes. There were only two "bad" teams in the
PAC-12 last year; CU and Cal.
Amusing that U fans are writing off NIU's BCS run while that's
essentially what the U did as well. Also amusing is that the U fans are writing
off BYU and wonder why the U would continue to play BYU since the U has
'owned' BYU recently. How about the 20 year period from 1972 - 1992
when BYU was 19-2? Should BYU have ended the games just because BYU dominated?
Or should Utah have ended things since Utah owned BYU before 1972?The real crux of the problem is that the U and BYU were very closely tied,
each helping the other along the way, until the U up and left BYU for the PAC.
Somehow that gave U fans license to hate BYU, not just dislike but hate, and
gave BYU a feeling of being abandoned by an old friend. It's a shame it
happened, it's time to move on, and it's time for this silly rivalry
to die off and end.
Ever seen the Seinfeld episode where Kramer beats up little kids at a karate
studio for children? Exactly like BYU football. Anytime BYU has to fight an
adult, they get pounded...especially when it is the adult up north (4 in a row).
@ Two For FlinchingUm, I think you're forgetting someone. There were
THREE bad teams in the PAC 12 last year.
Idaho State is such a formidable foe when they play in RES, but they morph into
smurfs when they travel that extra 45 miles to LES.------------flatlander"Of course they [NIU] won eleven games, they
play in the mid America conference"Remind us how many times the
Utes won eleven games playing in the WAC.
two for flinching, At the end of the year we all know that after the top
12 or so the polls end up nothing more than he said she said . if we use your
theory from "last year " UCF which the Y plays this year at their house
finished # 10 in the nation. Thanks, that just made the Y's schedule quite a
bit tougher this year by your theory.lets talk at the end of the year and see
whos "ranked" BYU or UTAH .
I love mine independence and good, tuff schedules.
We almost won one of the bad teams in the PAC last year. That's pretty
Outstanding scheduling move. Playing with the big boys now.
Gotta luv the avalanche of comments from a program that's not even on
BYU's schedule next year.Obsessed much Utah fans?
Yeah, NIU isn't the power house some are making it out as. Yes, they went
to a BCS game a couple of years ago (and got handled a la Hawaii), but Utah
State could have done it just as easily playing their schedule. Actually,
looking at it, Utah State would have probably gone undefeated with that schedule
that year. Moreover, last year we made their "vaunted" offense
featuring their Heisman candidate QB look like so much hamburger against a meat
saw when we played them in the Poinsettia Bowl last year, and beat them without
too much trouble despite our offense being only about 65% strength. A solid
win, but not surprising, much like beating LaTech the previous year. They are a
lot better than Idaho State though. I'd characterize them as a middle of
the road MWC team which would probably lose to USU, BSU, SDSU, and FSU, with
50/50 chances against CSU, UNLV, SJSU, and Wyoming.
Chris B, Spokane Ute and NavalVet are the greatest. I love how they jump on
every BYU article and make comments. They are the best. I also love PAC12 fan. I
wish I had thought of that screen name first. I am not only a Ute fan, I am a
PAC12 fan. I have stickers on my car and flags. I also have an AFC bumper
sticker, since that is my favorite NFL team and an American League East window
decal, since that is my baseball team. Go Utes and more importantly
The UTEs are a better team than BYU because Football is not about football
anymore but about money. Ute football is better as losers in the PAC 12 because
they make more money than they did as a top team in the WAC and Mountain west.
They are in a power 5 conference with probably the same chance at a rose bowl
berth or national championship as they had in either the WAC or the Mountain
West. No disrespect If the Utes win all their games they will find themselves in
the rose bowl, the chances are that will not happen anytime soon. But good luck
to both teams and we will see in fifteen weeks who is really the better team. Go Cougs and good luck Utes
Chris B "Since you barely can get 2-3 power conference games a
years "Typical fuzzy Ute math. BYU played 7 Power Conference
teams last year, 3 at home. 2-3..... 7... close enough eh Chris? Even the first year of Independence BYU played 4. This year it will be 4 after
the Bowl game and when UConn was scheduled they were a power conference team or
it would have been 5. Good luck winning that SOS National Championship and in
your annual bowl game vs. Colorado. LOL
UTE fan here.I love BYU Football, their players, coaches, and
administrative/support staff.I always root for BYU except when they
are playing UTAH.When BYU went independent, I said it will be
difficult for BYU to schedule.Tom has done an amazing job creating
any schedule. The problems stems from the DN articles promising
things will be better when reality is that scheduling as an independent will
continue to be difficult, only more so.An example is the release of
future games against ISU and NIU.Tom will find far more games
available against teams of this caliber, rather than P5 teams he would love to
Hey Chris B, if WE wanted to see quality teams play we could always drive up to
RES and fill some of the empty seats there. But the reality of it is that
we'd rather fill our own stadium than watch the utes lose again and again
in their powerhouse conference.
There's always more utah fans posting on BYU articles than there are BYU
fans. That leads me to believe that the Utes secretly love the Cougars but are
in a state of denial about it. It's very obvious that BYU garners much
more interest in the news as well as better attendance at their games (both home
Hmm?UNLV wins more then half their games, and goes to a bowl
game.What happened to the utes?
whoami"Why can't you schedule home/home (multiple times)
with fellow independent ARMY? I always respected and enjoyed Utah's games
against Air Force and Navy! And would feel the same about Army."When did Utah ever schedule a home game against either Army or Navy?Despite their Independent status, Army and Navy aren't nearly as easy to
schedule as you're suggesting.
@Chris B"We'd rather disassociate ourselves from you as you
are a mid major and we've moved onto bigger and better things."So let me get this straight. You didn't play BYU because we are a
mid-major? And instead, you played Fresno State? You remember what Fresno State
is right?Let me help you out. They're a mid-major.There is a major flaw in the logic with the comment that you made. Chris Hill
specifically said that he wouldn't schedule BYU because playing BYU and
Michigan was too difficult. So he scheduled Fresno State instead. BYU is a
better opponent than Fresno State.Athlon: BYU #35 Fresno #62Phil Steele: BYU #38 Fresno #52So no, utah has not moved on to
"bigger and better" things. They have moved on to smaller and worse
things with Fresno. Also, I noticed that UtesRulePac12 commented at
1:25 and you commented at 1:35. Do you just sit at your computer all day waiting
for a comment you don't agree with? Just wondering.
For a team (Utah) and her fans, which can't even compile a winning record,
let alone earn a spot in one of "39" Bowl Games (78 available slots)
they sure have a lot of Bluster and "False Bravado".Never in
the History of Mankind, have so many, boasted of so much, with nothing to show
Since when is the Cincinnati mascot the Bengals? (that's the NFL team).
BigCougFan"...if WE wanted to see quality teams play we could
always drive up to RES and fill some of the empty seats there."You might want to first get on the waiting list. Perhaps you didn't
realize that RES has sold out for 25 consecutive Utah football games?
@ DisturbedOneI'm sure you aren't taking about Utah, which
beat BYU and finished ranked higher....@ cougarsrockUCF
was a solid team last season. They lost a lot on offense, but I think their
defense will be great. As for BYU finishing ranked, it wouldn't surprise
me if it did wind up in the final rankings. The difference is, the PAC-12 teams
achieved their ranking while playing a complete schedule of tough teams.
BYU's schedule this year has a couple tests, but by overall is pretty weak.
worf "UNLV wins more then half their games, and goes to a bowl game. What
happened to the utes?"Same answer as yesterday when you asked that
question... UNLV plays a different quality of opponents. UNLV (and BYU) would
suffer playing Utah's schedule yada yada yada losing season and no bowl.
NIU is a top team in their league year in and year out. They are good for 8-11
wins, and a boost to strength of schedule if BYU happens to beat them. This is
the kind of game I have been hoping for since Independence began for the
challenging but winnable games. Not feeling great about the other
game. However, that was to be expected. I was hoping that the Cougars could
buy a game with a Sunbelt team.
@SoonerUte,Don't put BYU at the ute level. Please!Utes wouldn't have made a bowl with last years BYU schedule. Utah is not a PAC 12 quality team. Period! That's why they are picked
to finish at the bottom. They wouldn't do well in the MWC
@Taylormade1Comparing BYU's schedule with Alabama's is
crazy. You are claiming teams with bad records are equally bad. It's
relative man. Those teams you mentioned with bad records in the SEC last year
would have a solid shot at being undefeated with Idaho State's schedule.
Seriously? Florida & Tennessee are not bad teams except for in the SEC or if
they were in the other top three conferences in the country. Idaho State has a
worse record with one of the worst schedules in the country. And
it's not just records. Football is a war of attrition. Bodies get worn down
over the season far more in a power conference and depth is a huge factor as
well. Utah and TCU have found that out after dominating before joining BCS
conferences. Yes Utah made two BCS bowls because they were in the
MWC. Getting there now is a much taller order. But as bad a the MWC was it was
far better than what NIU and Hawaii had when going undefeated. Last year was too
much for BYU to go undefeated but this year is their chance. It's as soft a
schedule as it gets.
When BYU fans bag on Utah for their BCS bowls with a weak schedule they
don't mention BYU not accomplishing the same (schedules were comparable
then). If BYU can't go unbeaten this year then when can they? This years
schedule softer than what BYU had in the MWC. Playing bad MWC teams is better
than playing bad WAC and Big Sky teams. Utah beat 4 BCS schools in
2004 (Texas A&M, Arizona, North Carolina, and Pittsburgh). Those teams
weren't great teams but Utah blew them out. BYU rips Utah for losing to
Colorado when Virginia was worse than the Buffs. Look, the bottom line is this;
playing bad teams in power conferences still leaves a physical toll on teams.
This year BYU plays no physical teams except Texas. USU is now a nice program.
Boise State had a decade long run. But neither team is big. BYU pounded Boise
State last year. Houston is also a lesser squad. BYU could simply run the
football with Hill and Williams all day and over power 11 of their 12 opponents
this year. They should do that if their defense is what it has been the last few
If you compare coaching records with Whitt and Bronco you will see a huge swing
when Utah went to the PAC 12 and BYU to independence. The first 6 years when
schedules were as equal as can be; Whitt was one game better than Bronco.
Despite the UNLV debacle and BYU's 10 win seasons, Utah had a better record
for those 6 years. And you can't blame the head to head rivalry thing for
the better record overall as the rivalry game records were 3-3 in those 6 years.
It's after that point (PAC 12 and Indy) when Utah won three in a row (four
overall). Yet during Utah's win streak over BYU, Bronco moved well ahead of
Whitt in win totals. Why? PAC 12 schedule vs. Indy schedule.Tthere is no other
legit way to explain this. Sure there are other factors, but this is the meat of
the issue here. Utah beat BYU 54-10 in Provo and BYU fans claim to be better
because they were 10-3 and Utah 8-5 that year. Yet look back at those schedules
and tell me with a straight face BYU was the better team.
The BIG 12 would be sweet for BYU. I am baffled by the significant number of BYU
fans that prefer independence. I get the exposure and all. And the freedom of
scheduling argument makes sense, although it's still a fiasco. Then, you
get the crowd that likes the chance to go unbeaten and hope for that big bowl
invite. The latter example even has me thinking BYU has a much better chance at
a BSC game than Utah. But how can BYU fans even be stoked at all to watch 8
games on their schedule. That is what excites me as a Ute fan, is watching Utah
play better games week to week. I used to be so disgusted to watch Utah play New
Mexico, Wyoming, UNLV, and all the duds on the schedule back then. Sure Utah
would go bowling back then with even average football teams. But so what? I like
big time football. Utah won't go undefeated anymore and the Rose bowl is a
long shot, but Utah doesn't have to go undefeated anymore. In 2011, Utah
wasn't all that far off. Seasons of parity in a conference opens the door.
@ FactcheckBYU's schedule of P5 teams:"Even the
first year of Independence BYU played 4. This year it will be 4 after the Bowl
game and when UConn was scheduled they were a power conference team or it would
have been 5."--------You may want to do exactly your screen name
implies prior to posting. BYU plays three teams from P-5 conferences this year,
Texas, California and Virgina. U Conn and UCF play in the American Athletic
conference. BYU is slated to play the winner of that conference in the Miami
Beach Bowl. So the bowl game can not add a P5 team to the schedule. Furthermore,
Cal and Virginia combined to go 0-17 in conference play last year. I hope this
factual information helps with your understanding of BYU's up coming
"Why don't you guys just schedule home and homes with 8-9 power
conference teams every year?"Because BYU doesn't want to be
the another bad P-5 football program in Utah.
@ Two For FlinchingTwo conference wins would make them one of the
worst teams in the pac12. Finished ranked higher? Not sure where that came
@worfUNLV wins more then (than) half their games, and goes to a bowl game.
What happened to the utes?Worf, Utah SOS #3, UNLV #88. Trust a BYU
fan ignore the strength of schedule@worf Don't put BYU at
the ute level. Please!Worf, we don't. Utah is much better than
BYU... see 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013
Huge gets that only add to a very difficult schedule.LOL.
NIU is a good team who's played well lately. Should be a fun series. ISU
is good for filling out the schedule in a pinch. That Sept. schedule is a
killer and would challenge any team. I'd be happy if BYU came out of it at
2-2. That's what this article is about, contrary to what the comments may
lead one to believe. If those who claim to have "moved on" would do so,
things would be much better around here. A person can dream…
"Perhaps you didn't realize that RES has sold out for 25 consecutive
Utah football games?"Well, yeah. If BYU had a stadium that fit
only 45k, they would have sold out for far more than 25 consecutive games.
Don't blame BYU if the utes can't match up in the PAC 12.
@DisturbedoneI know where that came from, the Sagarin Rankings. Utah
finished the season ranked higher. I hope that helps.
@Spokane Ute Wow by .6, they were only ranked higher because of
their conference schedule. What really matters is wins, I guess as long as you
finish ahead of BYU two conference wins is good enough.
Just telling you like it was; no need to get defensive. I know the head to head
score means nothing; at least to many BYU fans. Utah beat BYU on the field and
in the polls by the narrowest of margins; even on a very down year. That's
just the way it is Guy!
Yes!. College football is getting closer, the hype is alive and well (I love
it)!. Wonder what kind of a season Utah is going to have this year? They play a
pretty touch schedule so maybe 5-7? Oh, that would mean going to the "Rump
on The Hump Couch Potato Bowl" again - yikes!. If BYU has a great year like
I think they will (probably 11-1 or 10-2) and go to a Bowl game it will be very
satisfying for us Coug fans for sure. If the Utes go 5-7, I'm guessing the
seat Coach Whit sits on could get a little warm? Wow, it's got to be
frustrating to be a bottom dweller in the PAC-12. Maybe Utah should go back to
the MWC or Wac conference where they could be competitive again - just sayin.
The comments from Ute fans are even more hilarious in light of the announcement
that Utah just scheduled a home-and-home with Northern Illinois as well.Once again, the Utes are desperate to keep up with BYU.
Word is there will be heaping helpings of crow being served on the hill tonight
when Utah's home-and-home with Northern Illinois is announced.
Of course today a utah/NIU home and home was anounced. lol And then
utah is playing idaho state in a few weeks .lolutah "fans",

FatMan86"Wow, can't wait for both of these barn burners.
I'll bet NBC will buy out the Cougs TV deal to broadcast these
games."Open mouth, insert foot, and crow.LOL!Can't wait to see the frantic spin from the kids on the hill about
how much better Idaho State and Northern Illinois are when they play Utah,
instead of BYU.
navelvet"NIU "backed in" to the BCS...just
like Hawai'i did back in 2007-08[and Utah did in 2004 and

No doubt Kilarny playing 4 ranked teams in 2008, then handing 11-1 Alabama their
worst loss of the season was a walk in the park. New to college football?

First Utah fan comment about the BYU-NIU series: 22 minutesFirst Utah fan
comment about the Utah-NIU series: * crickets *-----------------timid sparrow"NIU is a great example of how scheduling
down is a great way to artificially inflate your ranking."hmmm
@ DisturbedOneUtah won on the scoreboard, and in the rankings.Sometimes it's best to just stop digging.
@65tosspowertrap ..."Why don't you guys just schedule home and homes
with 8-9 power conference teams every year?""Because BYU
doesn't want to be the another bad P-5 football program in Utah."Right, they would much rather act like their better then they think they
are by scheduling a bunch of bad teams....LOL....Cowards!
DuckhunterHighland, UTHow come the best utah could do is a get and 1
for 1 with a team like NIU? And how come the first game is at NIU? Here's
betting NIU drops the game at utah after utah plays at NIU then schedules
someone that will really add to their SOS.________in
Conference Utah plays ASU, UCLA, USC, OR, WA, OR. St.............please tell us
how Utah needs to do better than that. Unlike BYU that has to fill up it's
entire schedule as an indie.Have you read any NIU related boards?
Their fans refer to BYU as a mid-major, and Utah a good P5 scheduling move. LOL!
wacpaddled"Have you read any NIU related boards?"I read this statement:"BYU is an opponent that will bring a
national name and a long tradition of success to our schedule," NIU Athletic
Director Sean T. Frazier said in a release. "I think this is a series that
will make Huskie fans take notice and realize that we are serious about bringing
top-quality opponents to Huskie Stadium and that now is the time to get involved
with NIU Football."And this comment:"For good
MAC teams like NIU, this is the slot where you go out and get the highest
profile H/H series you can. Typically it would be a P5 team but BYU and ND are
independents that would fall into that category as well."
wacpaddledFrom the same NIU blog re: the NIU/Utah series
announcement:"Will be interesting to see who they announce
tomorrow. My guess is it will be a bigger name than SD St, BYU, and Utah.
Fingers crossed.""With all this hype I hope it’s
someone worthwhile, Utah is a solid H&H but not worth all the hype
they've been giving their scheduling release.""I really
think it’s going to be Big Ten, ACC, a low level SEC based on what
they've been saying, we know it’s bigger than Utah based on the quote
today saying tomorrow will be better."hmmmm, it doesn't
seem that the NIU fans are all that impressed with Utah's "P5
@gettingpaddledbythewacUh....apparently you've missed the utah
"fan" narrative that utah somehow deserves a 2-1 with any non p5 team
despite the fact that absolutely no one will agree to that arrangement with
them. lolThis just confirms the delusion of that utah "fan"
claim.I do like the whining though, sure your schedules hard, jsut
one more reason utah will be a losing bowless program again this year. Enjoy
yourself.p.s. No of course I don't read NIU message boards. You
@ UteanymousNIU's program clearly thinks that Utah series is
better than the BYU series. "we know it’s bigger than
Utah based on the quote today saying tomorrow will be better."
2ferDon't kid yourself. The statement clearly had absolutely
nothing to do with BYU.

absolutely no one will agree to that arraignment with you? The
difference, Deseret News has 1,000 articles on BYU's "P5
UteologyOr the Utah fan narrative that Utah could compete with
anybody, which has been proven to be a complete farce, proving that the PAC 12
acted too hastily in inviting a program that obviously didn't deserve to be
included in a P5.

our strength of schedule? They hardly beat ranked teams.""As

@ Snack PACBy that standard TCU and WVU didn't deserve their
