I am torn. I want to be excited and hopeful, but Jackson has strayed so far from the feel and message of the book that I'm afraid that he'll corrupt the last few chapters of it as badly as he's messed up the rest.

Shane is absolutely correct. Jackson has bungled the first two Hobbit movies so badly that it is hard to expect anything but unmitigated disaster from the third.

Jackson's greed clearly got the best of him. He took a fantastic story and added unnecessary bloat to make three movies. A love affair between and elf and a dwarf is nothing short of blasphemous, and it came across as just plain silly. In addition, having the elf kingdom invaded by orcs made the elves appear about as competent as the three stooges.

Unfortunately short, Jackson should be condemned for his mistreatment of this material. Tolkien would roll over in his grave if he could see how liberal modern Hollywood has destroyed his great work.

I love it! I can hardly wait! Jackson is an epic story teller. Ignore the purists, this is entertainment at it's finest!
