You are aware that the Obama administration has deported more undocumented
workers than all previous administrations combined, right? Not sure what more
you want. So why don't we try compassion.
I think I understand what "Immigration" means. Why I need politicians
to define is "Immigration REFORM". "Reform"...
could mean ANYTHING. From "Amnesty" to even stricter laws than those
we have now.They need to define what they mean when they just throw
around "Immigration Reform" on the TV each night.I think
both sides are using the same terms, but meaning completely different things...
and the PUBLIC has no idea what they mean when they say "Reform"....
We really need to ask ourselves, What is the problem we are trying to solve
here?Is it a lack of low-skill labor? Or high tech workers?Is it to
legitimize people who have been living here illegally for x number of years?Is it to put people in a position to participate in our political process?Is it to insure that the flow of willing workers will keep wages and benefits
down, thus reigning in inflation?The politicians have failed miserably at
the task of explaining the value of legalization.In 1994, Barbara Jordan,
chair of a blue ribbon commission on immigration reform, spelled out the most
important benchmark for any immigration solution: It must serve the national
