The occasional classroom treat is not where the obesity problem lies. It is in
the home diet. It is overkill to prohibit a classroom birthday treat.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
It's really not necessary to celebrate a birthday with baked goods at
school. Some schools okay the cupcakes but you have to order them from the
school and the food dept makes them. Expensive. A better suggestion is to donate
a book to the class or library. Some kids don't even have a
bday during the school year. Does any child need to eat 20 cupcakes during a
school year? Besides the ones outside of school?
I sure am glad I grew up in the generation I did, when treats in class were
acceptable and sleepovers were fine, too. Oh, well. We creative ones will still
find ways to make birthday celebrations at school fun!
I would almost bet that at this school recess has been reduced next to nothing
so teachers can get those students ready for standardized testing.
What a joke. 180 days of school, classroom of 30 kids. Is one cupcake every 6
days really going to be an issue? I guess since they only have PE once a week
it could be. But don't the federal govt and superintendent have better
things to worry about?
I miss the days when parents raised their children.
