I don't blame byu players for their response. I wouldn't expect them
to say "ya we are a mid major and the big boys shouldn't treat us like
they do other power conference teams"But the truth is that the
power 5 should treat byu like they treat all other mid majors. And that is like
a mid major. If byu was worthy of being treated differently a power conference
would invite them. But byu isn't worthy. As no conference wants them. Utah
added enough value to the PAC 12 to invite Utah. The big 12 had the same
opportunity with byu. And unlike Utah, byu did not add enough value Facts. Cheers brothers!
>Utah added enough value to the PAC 12 to invite Utah. No,
conference officials possibly THOUGHT that Utah would add enough value. Utah
hasn't, by any means, but maybe conference officials were hoping that maybe
sometime in the future, loooong into the future, Utah would add some value. For the rest of us who have been fans of the conference for decades,
Utah certainly hasn't made the conference more prestigious or interesting.
Maybe Utah's athletic program will develop into a real draw at the ticket
office or for broadcasts, but currently there's no sign of that happening
any time in the near future. Currently, Utah is the conference game on the
schedule that we're fine with missing if something more interesting comes
up, such as reruns of Budget Committee meetings on C-SPAN, or maybe golf on the
Again with desperate Ute fans reading all they can about big brother in Provo,
with the big stadium, our own DirecTV channel, National Championship, Heisman,
winning seasons, bowl games…things the unworthy Utes can only dream about.
As we have been able to see with the Utes, they can upend a BYU or a Stanford,
but then they lose almost all the rest of their conference games, never get
ranked, viewed as a doormat, or a spoiler team but never viewed as a top flight
team. They have had two good seasons in program history, a tiny Juco stadium, a
never ending jealousy of BYU and even hired most their coaching staff from, you
know who? Yep, the Cougs. So spend your cash wisely guys, the wins are rare,
the bowl games non-existent, the winning seasons unlikely, but you have that SOS
trophy to point to.."other teams we play are good, so maybe that means we
This ridiculous "You're not Power 5 worthy" talk should indeed
provide some motivation for the Cougars. "Pride goeth before the fall."
never break .500You have been beat by Utah 4 years In a row.....stop
rambling about how Utah is jealous. Utah showed that they could outplay byu 4
years Ina row, it was no longer a competition so they stop scheduling them.
Simple spectatorFirst I agree that head to head Utah has been
better team against BYU for last 4 games. But no competition? if I remember
correctly 3 out of 4 games were decided on one touch down or final play of the
game. Few things here and there and it could have been anyones win.For
whatever reason, Utah is not playing BYU and going way from BYU. Now I wish Utah
fan will go away from BYU too. Never seen any fan following where irrelevent
opponent comes before there own team. For BYU fans - BYU comes first and
then everyone else. For Utah fans - BYU comes first , then PAC 12, then
little bit of Utah and everyone else.
@u-PAC aka zoobed buster Utes don't talk much, too bad same
can't be said about the utah fans. They can never stop talking about BYU.
With no Utah-BYU game to play for two years, Utah will no longer be able to use
the did we beat BYU measuring stick for success. It was annoying to have that
game on the schedule only for the Cougars to cough up a loss while ruling the
stats. Yes Utah won. They wanted those games more than they seemed to want
wins against teams in the PAC12. It will be quite interesting to see how the
two teams fare these next two years. As for BYU, I fully expect two
years being ranked at seasons end and ten plus wins because of the
maturity/development of the O-Line, QB and RB. I would LOVE to see both
Williams and Hill pull all-america honors as well.As for Utah, they
will have an entirely new coaching staff, still be adjusting to PAC12
competition and likely selling more bumper stickers for the conference than for
It's interesting to see some say BYU isn't power 5 worthy. What makes
a school or team power 5 worthy? I would like to see those people list what it
is that makes a team or school a power 5.
never break .500Los Angeles, CAThey have had two good seasons
in program history, a tiny Juco stadium, a never ending jealousy of BYU and even
hired most their coaching staff from, you know who? Yep, the Cougs.---------Yep, you sure are right. Pac 12 sucks. We wanna be an
independent mid major that no power conference respects and has exactly zero
access to the playoff... with a coach who has football fifth on his list of
priorities... NCAA sanctions coming... is publicly BEGGING to be let inside the
party... and an absolutely dreadful slate of home games every single season.Where can I sign up for some of that?Your entire rant is
absolutely dripping with hate-fueled jealousy.LOL!
Steven S JarvisOrem, UTWith no Utah-BYU game to play for two
years, Utah will no longer be able to use the did we beat BYU measuring stick
for success. ---------Beating up on a bad mid major is
absolutely no measure of success by any stretch of the imagination for any team
imaginable in any universe.Beating BYU is what it is... a low-level
auto-win that has entirely lost its excitement because BYU can't compete
with Utah anymore.Yawn, next.
"BYU will still play the likes of Texas, Virginia and UCLA this year"No they won't. Cal is NOT UCLA.
BYU with 10 wins over mediocre teams will not get them ranked anymore due to SOS
becoming a much greater force. SOS will trickle down to the individual polls.
The Utes are in a Power Conference…with no power to show for it.
I'll be surprised if the Utes win 5 Football games this year. The Utes
have proven one thing though…they can beat BYU and no one else. Thank
goodness Colorado is always on the schedule or it would look even worse!
Tenn12"It's interesting to see some say BYU isn't
power 5 worthy. What makes a school or team power 5 worthy? I would like to see
those people list what it is that makes a team or school a power 5."Here's your list. 1. Have two lucky (outlying) football
seasons.2. Not be religiously affiliated.3. Have a research school.
4. Be a doormat to the new conference.5. Be willing to have fans
cheer for the conference over the school for decades. At least this
is what the PAC schools told Utah to justify not getting Texas and Oklahoma and
they had to settle for Utah because they already invited Colorado.
TCU would love to see BYU join the Big 12, so that the Horned Frogs
wouldn't be the conference doormat anymore.
SoonerUte:And what's BYUs record against Texas and Oklahoma again? Oh
yeah, 5-1. Yep that sounds like a sure fire doormat indeed. Just because Utah
and TCU have stunk it up doesn't mean everyone would...the two big dogs of
the Big 12 can vouch for that!
upac"I'm glad my beloved Utes don't talk much, if
ever. But, they know how to win the big games."2011 - with a
gift-wrapped PAC South there for the taking, the Utes are dominated at home by a
10-loss Colorado team that hadn't won a road game in four years.2012 - the Utes fail to qualify for a bowl game when they're unable to
win a single road game against a PAC team with a winning record, as usual.2013 - with their bowl eligibility hanging by a thread, the Utes
can't get past lowly WSU(6-7), a team that lost to Colorado State in their
first bowl in yearsWhere's you evidence that the Utes know how
to win big games?4-5, 3-6, 2-7LOL!
