This guy intrigues me since I found out that his unremarkable numbers last year
were probably due to double and triple teams. This guy may have a higher upside
than Kanter. I like him more than Gordon because he appears to have a more
well-rounded skill set. Could see him teaming with Favors, and then team could
go for SG with next pick. If Jazz choose to go for Australian point guard here,
I would understand...he will probably prove to be better than Burke eventually
due to strong defensive presence.
I'm not down on Vonleh but I'm not as high as some, I've watched
him some and although he has potential, I haven't seen him impose his will
on a game. I like the fact he can shoot at least decent from outside but I
don't see him being as quick as I'd like to see. That is one of the
things I really like about Gordon, his is quick, athletic, hard worker, good
passer, good handles, good rebounder, good defender that can defend multiple
positions, some compare him to AK47 and or Shawn Marion , both of those players
are valuable to their teams because of all the things they can do and we could
use a player like that. Then beyond that if he can develop his shot he has the
potential to be a star, we need that too.
If we don't trade the pick, I like Dante Exum (playing as a SG), then Aaron
Gordon, then Vonleh. The problem I see is that we need someone who can be the
#1 option on offense, and aside from Parker and Wiggins, I don't see that
guy in the draft.
If we take Gordon at the 5 spot we may not have a #1 scoring option but we might
have a team more like the Spurs, players that are willing and able to pass and
do all the little things. If Gordon works as hard as I think he will, he could
become a #1 option , Karl Malone couldn't shoot when he first came into the
league, work is what it took and he worked, Gordon has a great work ethic and
could end up doing the same.
