Although it would be nice if everyone understood and practiced the concepts
discussed here, Latter-day Saints in particular should be sensitive to these
things, as it is a main topic of what they hear when they attend the temple.
There is nothing wrong with being comfortable, but we should be very, very
careful to ensure that we do not obtain more than we reasonably need. When we
go beyond what is reasonable for us--and that will be a little different for
each individual or family--we focus on ourselves, and it seems to be impossible
to focus on others at the same time that we are focusing on ourselves. The
second of the Two Great Commandments does indeed apply to us, and if we ignore
it we will not get what we are looking for in the end.
JT4 I think you make a good point. Our stake leaders recently asked the
members to increase our fast offering contribution. This is a very
effective way to reach as many needy as efficiently as possible.And I
really admire the lady in this article, she is inspiring.
