So what is the deal with UHSAA so ANTI Pole Vault?
Yeah, like the only state that doesn't contest the pole vault? An Texas
has girl's pole vault!!! This year's performances are impressive
thought and we had a great year last year! A couple of 1:52/1:53 800 meters and
what was considered the best HS distance runner in the US. Several major
conference recruits/signings... the 300 hurdles and 400 really stand out to me
this year! Then Love is fast as lightening and still a lot of room for
It's not the UHSAA, as much as I like to blame them for things. This is
purely economic. It costs nearly $10,000 for safe pits, not to mention poles,
bars, and associated equipment. Because of our litigious society, OSHA and risk
management and schools and school boards have decided many schools simply
can't afford to vault. At state meets, the richer schools that
can afford to learn to vault get an automatic advantage, basically free points.
So, the coaches agreed to either not have it in some classifications, or not
score it.BTW, girls pole vaulted this year, and, at least in 5A,
will score next year. Get your facts right before you get upset, folks.
