"Mormon teen"--Does THAT matter? If she were Catholic, or Muslim, would
that have been noted?
It's quite likely the term "Mormon Teen" fits into this picture
because a) the article does appear in the Mormon Times Section of the Deseret
News online and b) This article was picked up from a blog titled "Aggieland
Mormons" with contributions from members of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints living in Texas. Other recent features in the blog include
"11 LDS quotes about Mothers" and "10 Facts about Mormon
Missionaries that May Surprise You". When you consider the source, the
description makes sense.
I think what is portent is that a teen has decided to use her talents to help
others. After reading the story where the teens defense was too much
"affluence" from the story it is nice to see some youth do not suffer
from that "disease". Go Kate!
I've wondered lately why nearly every good story about "Mormons"
attracts detractors. Is it anger, jealousy? I seriously would like to know.
I've not kept a written tally, but much of it seems to originate in Utah.
@baddogDon't worry about the haters. They will always exist,
just as long as you can rise about them. @Lia If this
were an article about a Catholic or Muslim girl, I would have no problem if her
church was mentioned.
Some folks always have to take that crack at the Mormons, it must be depressing
to have that much hate in your soul.
