I love Elder Ballard. He is a wise leader with sound counsel.
Very impressive. I am more than 20 years younger than Elder Ballard but
I've not yet tweeted.
One tweet and he has nearly 10,000 followers. How fun. It will be great to read
what he says. And Roddin, I'm older and have 3300 followers. It's
fun and can be educational.
I agree with Elder Ballard. Additionally, missionary-minded LDS need to sign up
on the comment blog sections of the major news sites, in order to correct false
information spread by misinformed and lying bloggers. It is way out of control
out there. It is sorely needed in that arena, as well and not just your Twitter-
type sites. We need to have readers scanning your CNNs, Fox News's, Yahoos,
etc, for any headliners that mention the "Mormons", "LDS",
"Utah", etc, and investigate the comments section to find the
misinformed. Correct them with kindness and don't lose your cool. Go for it
morpunkt:There are individuals and ministries that are dedicated to
tearing down the church on the discussion boards of various news sites. They
setup Google alerts to get a more broad view of what news sites mention the
church, and then they pounce on those discussion boards. Even here
on DN, LDS church antagonists frequently come here just to ruffle feathers.
Ex-mormons also collude on ex-mormon sites to come here occasionally to post
items contrary to the church and its positions. With their numbers, they
"like" the posts contrary to the church so they have the appearance of
being more popular. Sometimes, they even use their various login names to have
the appearance of different people posting but it is the same person.
Social Media is a waste of time. It can be useful in certain situations but
that's just assuming that you have a lot of followers who can see it all.
Too often too much time is devoted to it and that's why it's a big
waste. And for the record I work for a company that helps small businesses
leverage social media. It's just not worth the time for personal users.
Wonderful example. Truly an inspired and inspiring leader! Full of love and
reverence for these marvelous brethren!
@1.9 Standard DeviationsYes. Precisely. This most often occurs with the
issue of gay marriage and SSA. I have noticed that too.
Morpunkt, 1.9 Standard Deviations,I've noticed that as well.
You would think only 30% of Utahns are against SSM by reading the comments on
the DN website. I also noticed over half of the commenters were from out of
state. It is a cool thing that our leaders, who are not young
sprouts, are not afraid to jump in to the newest forms of communication.
morpunktThis is precious. As a member of the church, the desert news
has consistently denied my comments about some of the doctrines and history of
the church. All my posts followed the commenting rules exactly. You ask us to
clear up falsehoods on other news sites, the church won't let you do that
