An excellent letter. Thank you, Mr. Thomas.
These broad, vague prescriptions are as unhelpful as Common Core is being
perceived. Why are some children entering school with lower vocabulary and lower
synaptic development? They're being underfed or nutritionally deprived,
have limited time with they're overworked parents, and are lacking stable
environments most suitable for early childhood. Which political party seeks to
alleviate these issues most? Hint, not the party Clive Bundy recently
A couple years ago I may have agreed with your letter but no longer. Not as I
have witnessed the changes taking place in Ogden schools that have high
percentages of low incoming students and these students and their teachers have
been seeing great success. Mr. Thomas it blows your theory out of the water.
slcdenizen has hit the nail on the head. The number #1 reason that our education
system is struggling is poverty. It is becoming more pronounced by the day
because of the disparage of income levels. 30 years ago,(according to the
Department of Labor) a minimum wage earner could support 3 people, now a minimum
wage earner needs SNAP to support the same 3. Of course, why would we invest in
America when there are banks to fill overseas.
