I've seen some teachers that dress inappropriately. School uniforms are
the way to go.
"But we have dads showing up in sagging pants," Osgood said during a
School Board discussion this week, according to the Sentinel. "It's
hard for me to tell a child not to show up for school with hair curlers, pajamas
or short shorts if they see parents wearing them. Parents need to lead by
example."Yes!"With all the big issues plaguing public
schools these days — high poverty rates, language barriers, classroom
crowding, guns — there should be bigger concerns than parents in their PJs
in school drop-off lines."The single best way to combat most of
that is for parents to straighten up and be a worthwhile example, not only for
their children, but for themselves. It's not an immediate fix, but
it's the only lasting one. You have to clean a wound before you can
bandage it.As for language barriers? Learn a country's primary
language before going there. If I were to raise a family in Mexico, living
primarily in Mexico over many years, you can bet I wouldn't assume Mexican
schools should accomodate English.
I totally support school dress codes. I have seen it work well in the schools
in my area. But this is a little too much. I remember my mom dropping me off
in curlers and I sometimes was still in jams when dropping my kids off. Come on!
Give the parents credit for actually walking or driving their kids instead of
not caring. Chances are they were trying to get breakfast, fix lunches, get
kids dressed, slick the hair down and be at school by 7 to 7:30AM plus get
themselves ready for work or whatever they were doing that day.
its organization that counts - parents who rise early to meet the day, have time
to first dress themselves - and then see that their children are dressed, fed
breakfast, and ready for school . One who was once a mom of school aged kids, my
thoughts in being properly dressed was that if a car mishap or fender bender was
to occur - at least I would not be dressed in robe, pajamas and curlers. Not to
mentions setting a good example for ones children.
