When Terry Orme says that religion stories generate a lot of traffic he means that the postings have become outlets for those who leave the church but cannot leave it alone.
One can rely on Trib posters to vilify everything Mormons hold sacred, and do so over the most tangential issues.
The spirit of Godbe is alive and well in comments made at the Tribune articles.

Probably just as well. Using the words Salt Lake Tribune and Faith in the same sentence is kind of an oxymoron. ;)

I used to read the tribune everyday but several years ago the paper stopped being readable and evidently that was not only to me. You cannot put out a paper that does not reflect the views of your readers. At least part of their problems have been self inflicted.

I hope the Tribune does indeed not reduce their coverage of faith issues in Utah. We need a newspaper that can provide a more objective and inclusive viewpoint on religion in our state than is provided by the Des News.

Maybe this will blunt the Tribs obviously anti-Mormon bent. But then again it may not. I do read the always entertaining Kirby. Maybe the DNews could hire him. I like the satire. Sometimes we do need to make fun of ourselves.

The epidemic in newsprint is largely due to the advent of the internet and the ease with which we can exchange information, which often runs counter to what is reported as "news." Hoisted on their own petard.

We take both the Deseret News and the Salt Lake Tribune at our house, and have done so for years. Both are important sources of news and information. Each covers news and events the other does not. We have high regard for both papers.
