Yep, the great divider, Barack Obama, caught in yet another blatant attempt to
deceive. And please spare me the "but George Bush did it too" meme.
Who really cares what George Bush did? Barack Obama is creating havoc and lying
about it now.
At the rate Mr. Obama is earning his Pinocchio's we will have to start
calling him the Pinocchio president.
If women want to earn as much money as men, they need to stop opting for careers
such as school teachers, social workers, and nurses, and set out to become
biochemical engineers and doctors. The gap is in the career choice, not the
Too funny!Barack got caught in his own lies and misleading
numbers."White House spokesman Jay Carney acknowledged this, but
he argued that when you control for key differences the gap disappears"No kidding - that's what we've been telling you guys for
Facts and the truth don't matter to a President who is more worried about
campaign slogans that help push his agenda. He grew up as a political organizer
and is still the Organizer in Chief. He does not know how to manage or
administer, just agitate.
Does Pinnochio make a poor motivational speaker? "Mr. President, you have
been a boon to our country and have given us. . . uh . . . uh. . . a fair shake.
I am a full-time male teacher at a public school, and all the female teachers in
my department are payed much more than I am for the same contract hours of work.
I have the same degree as most of them, if not all of them, and I even have a
higher endorsement than some of them. Now that's not fair!
(Note: this is sarcastic)
This is simply another example of the president using divisions, using lies,
using ignorant arguments to advance his political ambitions and those of his
party. This is another example of his ineptitude, his
short-sightedness, and his disregard for real Americans. Now who will
admit to voting for this man? Really? Twice? Each week brings new
evidence of Obama's poor leadership. The political pendulum will swing
dramatically in November 2014.
This article brings up a good point. When you account for things like degrees,
taking off time for children (important but leaves to loss of experience and
expertise so they aren't worth as much as the more experience worker who
hasn't taken off that time), etc. However, those reading it
might fail to realize another reason why some women do not get paid as much as
men. Some research has shown that women have a tendency to be more loyal to
their jobs than men. Men who are generally more risk takers, more often than
women look for and find new jobs at higher pay. This might account for the more
realistic average gap reported here of $.04 (from $.96).
Essentially, all of the posters are supporting the continued practice of unequal
pay for the same work? Honestly, this is a noble effort to make an in imperfect
world. Rather than publicly display your hatred for your president and deviate
from the topic, why not do something more constructive? There were only one post
that even made an attempt at trying to explain the situation.
Something like 94% of all workplace fatalities are male. I wonder if the
numbers are adjusted for the risk of death? Probably not. Given the 96% number
of unmarried women, it seems that family is the big variable, and the rest is
"Essentially, all of the posters are supporting the continued practice of
unequal pay for the same work?"My impression reading through
this was not that everybody here was opposed to equal pay for equal work, but
rather that the pay is not really unequal. The .77 to the $1 cited in the study
is as flawed as my example of being paid less than my female co-workers. There
is much more than just simply what your job is, what degree you have, and what
your gender is. There is much more to consider as the posters here have pointed
out.Obama is simply trying to divide the nation with his comment and
is perpetuating the myth that the right wing has a war on women. Obama is also a
mcdugall,The real pay discrepancy is about $0.04. I think as a
nation we have about arrived. For Obama to try and make this an issue simply
reveals his ineptitude and detachment.
Mcdugall, Here is the situation (I have cut and pasted a comment I
made from another article on the same topic):It is true that there
is a gap between the AVERAGE wage for men and women. But adjusting for
education, field, and experience that gap disappears. Sorry this is a non issue
that is being brought forth as a desperate attempt to distract from the ACA
disaster. The only solution would be to force women to major in higher income
fields and force them to stay in the work force rather than taking time off to
raise families. I would think that most women would object to this. Currently,
it is their choice as to what field to enter and it is their choice to work
part-time, full-time, or take time off.
Certainly it is wrong for men and woman in the same job to earn different
amounts but is it wrong that men and women in different jobs to earn different
amounts?NoMen and woman choose different jobs, for
reasons that they decide. The ability to get time off, and interest. Men and
women are interested in different subjects.
Darn, don't you just hate it when numbers mean things and thinking people
ask important questions?
This is a skewed argument in my opinion. The best and most effective way to
measure equity in pay is to look at specific positions and compare the pay. For
example, if there are 10 men and 10 women in the same job doing the exact same
thing, it would be a much greater concern if the pay for women was really 77
cents to the dollar. I do this analysis frequently in my line of work, and the
numbers and equity gaps are much different than the President is seeing. people
are free to choose whatever career path they want. Let's not confuse that
with pay inequities because one person chooses one career over another. Look at
the real statistical information and then evaluate where you stand in terms of
When men start staying home for years to have babies and rear them then we will
finally have pay equity.
During the great George W. Bush years wages were pushed back to the 70's
thanks to his flood of illegal aliens. Today those wages have never recovered.
Employers charge more for their products and service, profits have never been
higher and yet they demand more and payless. It is very ignorant to make
fun of Obama for trying to make things better when the previous President has
nearly destroyed the American worker and the American way of life.
