    How can TJ Haws NOT be on the HS Male Athlete list?
    2014 Utah Mr Basketball
    2011-14 5A State Champion (4)
    2013 National Champion
    2013 5A MVP
    2012 5A 1st team All-State
    2011 5A 2nd Team All-State

    I agree on Haws being on this list. I personally would vote for Hone, he recently won one national tournament in Virginia Beach and then the next week took on the best again and took second. He took state four times in wrestling, won the Reno Tournament of Champions, Super State, and The Rumble.

    @ironrod

    Just to clarify, Haws was the mvp in the 2012 season, Emery was the mvp last year

    T.J. Haws was nominated by the committee, but declined the nomination because he plans to leave immediately for a mission. The committee was unanimous in seeing Haws as one of the state's best male prep athletes in 2013.

    That says a lot about Haws and his character, good for him. If it wasn't for Hone, I would support Haws as the choice. Great young men both.

    Great list - there will always be arguments for others deserving recognition - for example, trick play Olympus used to defeat Springville at the end of the playoff game made Sports Center's top 10 for highlights - could be worthy of discussion for the governor's list.
