"Until recently, no society had seen marriage as anything other than a conjugal partnership between a man and a woman"

Uhhhh, doesn't the DN belong to a church which had the idea of marriage as a partnership between a man and multiple women deeply imbedded into its tenets for its first 50 years?

Didn't the majority of Americans object to those plural marriages, and believe that they were against God's will?

Despite what some want and some believe that God wants, there is a very valid case to be made that depriving Gay citizens of marriage to the person they love is not OK, due to the Constitution of the United States of America. A number of other countries are of the same mind.

I think the lds church and its outlets have every right to say what kind of marriage is acceptable within the lds religion. However, being only 125 years from a version of marriage that would be far less popular than Gay marriage in a national vote, perhaps the lds and the DN ought to stay out of the public arena on this subject.

Bob K, With organized corporate religion it is not necessarily a matter of what is right or wrong, but more a matter of what most profits the organization in its chosen believes.
