Good story. Can't wait to see him play. The Utes will be solid on defense, as always.

Unique story. We are a long way from football season but this is the first article that got me fired up.

Utah has had a number of solid defenses over the years, but despite having some star linemen, corners, and safeties come and go, Utah has never had a star linebacker. With a healthy Blechen, a more seasoned Orchard, and the DBs who look to be coming along swiftly, this years defense could rock with Gionni Paul flying all over the field.

    Amy...

Thanks for the report on this young man.

I hope all goes well for him in the classroom as well as on the field.

Sounds like a very promising addition for the Utes! Hope he excels or even exceeds expectations on him! Good luck this year!

Can't wait to see what he, and the rest of the defense, does against Oregon, USC, and other PAC-12 teams at RES this year.

With Gionnis enthusiasm on defense and Coach Christensen's no-nonsense style of coaching on offense, I am looking for some good things to come in this new season. Can't wait to see it get started.

If you aren't good enough to play for a good team transfer to the U.

This is a neat story. I'm a Cougar fan, but appreciate a good story for any team. I hope this guy does great. It sounds like he went through a lot to get where he is now.

    dbrbmw,
Where did you get that he isn't good enough to play for another team? If your comment isn't disruptive, it's definitely off topic.

Great story! Good to see the kid get a second chance, sounds like he's learned from his mistake and is ready to move on.

    Go UTES!!

Everyone can use a second chance, if he needs it...it got it and hope he does well, both in football and as he goes forward...Go Utes!

I think he will fit in well in SLC and hope to see him make an impact on the field. Young man seems to have grown up a lot recently and won't have the same distraction he had in Florida.

From the reports of spring ball, Paul has the coaches smiling, a lot.

The family atmosphere at Utah has been a recurring theme, especially over the past 5 years. Whit is building it right.

    Go Utes.
