Maybe Al Gore should be the cause of a hunting 'accident'. Then,
he'd be taken seriously.
Let's say you were suffering from severe headaches and you visited 100
brain surgeons to get an opinion. 97 of them said you had a malignant tumor that
had to come out immediately or you would die. The other 3 said that they
weren't sure. What would you do? That's the exact situation we find
ourselves in with global warming.
There are so many other non-climate benefits that can come with potential
climate solutions. Renewable energy, such as wind and solar, is
price stable, doesn't consume water, is clean (no Fukushima and coal
pollutants to clean up or create regulations to monitor), and can be harvested
domestically (so no Mideast wars to secure oil). Red states, such as Texas,
Iowa, Kansas, and others are fast seeing the economic benefits of clean energy
in rural communities -- and they want more.Electric vehicles are
steadily taking off, thanks to the radical advances of Tesla where it will be
launching a 400-mile battery pack soon. Electric vehicles are faster, cleaner,
and require significantly less maintenance than gasoline-powered cars, so will
be cheaper to operate. High performance and zero-energy buildings
are also taking off where they are so efficient or produce most/all of their
energy onsite. Not only are they cheap to live in, but they're more
comfortable as they work in harmony with the sun to avoid heat gains, etc.Clearly, technology to reduce carbon will bring about a less-expensive,
more comfortable world.
Like I heard one GOP delegate nominee proudly say at the Caucus meeting last
Tuesday night -- "If the EPA is FOR it, then I'm against
it!"Talk about blind, willful ignorance fueled only by rabid
hatred - rather than using God given Common Sense, Intelligence, or
Reasoning.[BTW - He sadly won the delegate vote.]
Sadly, this issue, and many others, are proving that Utah conservatives are
falling prey to a growing conservative consensus wherein ignorance is a
political virtue. As a liberal, I fully expect to disagree with
most other LDS members on social issues, etc... but cannot fathom how Mormon
conservatives now seemingly demonstrate disdain en masse for our Mother Earth.
How much personal profit Dick Cheney made off with while "keeping us
safe"????Those cost-plus bids, for Halliburton really helped
Dick Cheney, his friends, and many other profiteers of the Iraq war.The waste and outright fraud was well documented, but no one really cares.
That is my opinion along with inconvenient truths.
No change in the forecast, the pillaging of the Earth's resources is not
quite complete. Spot on letter that emphasizes that it is better error on the
side of caution.
Here's the problem with the left-wing of America. However daft and ignorant
conservatives are, they're pros at building a consensus regarding an issue
and move the proverbial chains while the liberals respond to the rhetoric with
contemplation and respect. Look at Hobby Lobby. They initiated a cynical
campaign about religious freedom in order to receive special treatment with
their insurance policies. It's not a matter of respect for their religion,
it's about their pocketbooks. Why can't liberals take the same
approach. Throw sanity out the window and holler from the rooftops that gays not
being allowed to marry is causing the drought in the West, or that global
warming is a prophecy in fulfillment from Elijah. Nobody cares about careful
analysis and respectful dialogue. We want hateful rhetoric and apocalyptic
pronouncements. Get with the program Dems.
Here is the problem with nutty liberals. They like to manufacture issues, and
then try to make comparisons between other issues, (just like this letter) that
really have no comparison. You know, they compare apples to oranges instead
apples to apples. The other problem is they have this nasty bad habit
of lying, and not telling the truth. 95%? Not really true!! Falsified data? The
list goes on and on. Finally the leftists have this other huge
problem of hypocrisy. Except for a small handful of ultra nutty minimalists,
most libs talk the big game about personal responsibility concerning their
thoughts on climate control, but they live a hypocrite lifestyle that defies
their vocal lunacy about climate control. It really is like most leftist issues,
a desire for them to control other peoples lives through big government policy.
"Here is the problem with nutty liberals. They like to manufacture
issues.."Bill Maher talks about the conservative bubble.
Here's the perfect example. What's frightening is this is
willful. You couldn't talk folks like this out of this blindness if you
had it written on stone tablets you found in a burning bush. Sorry
for using the word bush. I'm sure I'm now going to get accused of
blaming all of this on George Bush.
HaHaHaHa - I'd love to point out that you contradict yourself when
describing we leftists as 1) living a lifestyle that undermines our efforts to
stem the affects of climate change, while simultaneously 2) seeking to use the
machinations of government to control everyone and force them to live a
lifestyle that has a small environmental footprint; but that sort of reasoning
is lost on you, right? In all sincerity, I just want to confirm
that you are accusing us leftists of doing two things simultaneously that are
mutually exclusive. And, then you have the audacity to label us as hypocrites
and claim we manufacture issues. Riiiiiight.
