For some reason there is a trend but I don't think it's fear of
imperfection. There are women in difficult degrees but they tend to be attracted
towards different things than men. I think it's just how
certain careers are viewed and not necessarily their reality. Lots
of women want to go into criminology right now. I'm sure in not a
coincidence but a result of positive examples from TV shows that have come out
Could have a lot to do with the obvious disproportion of women in these fields.
A woman might feel that she needs to excel even more in order to
"justify" her pursuit. All things don't need to be equal for us to
feel good about ourselves, but the opportunities and encouragement should be the
same. Another study just released shows that women in high level corporate
positions are frustrated at having to act like men when they "make it to the
top." This men v. women paradigm is getting tiresome. Looking forward to
increasing changes in these arrangements that we take for granted as natural.
