That's an interesting write up...good research, Dirk. Breaking into the
NCAA tournament is a lot to hope for at this point but this season has been
great anyway! Coach K has brought the fun back to Utah basketball!!Go Utes!!
Sshhh Yahoo should not be telling Utah fans that beating BYU at home was
against "top competition". They don't like thinking of BYU that
way even though most the rest of the country does.
souptwins"Sshhh Yahoo should not be telling Utah fans that
beating BYU at home was against 'top competition'."Nothing wrong at all with Yahoo saying that ... see the key word in your
sentence is "beating" - which is exactly what Utah laid on your cougs.
souptwins- That was a great night. I remember before the game seeing all those
cougar fans there. I went out to get a drink and they started chanting in
unison. It was impressive, and just a little unsettling. But by the end I was
so glad they all come to witness the whoopin'. Then the Utah
student section started to chant "Just like football!" It was awesome.
See you next year.
The actual quote:"The Utes, 18-2 at home this year, have
routinely UPENDED top competition, including the likes of BYU, UCLA and Arizona
St."Upended, as in, UPSET Top Competition, in other words, the
Utes weren't expected to beat BETTER teams like BYU, UCLA and ASU, but
somehow managed to pull off the upset.
To put things in perspective, when was the last night BYU "upset" Utah
in the Marriott Center?
Chamberlain,According to the dictionary:Upend: to set
on end; to defeat in competition, as in boxing or business.Upset:
to defeat or overthrow an opponent that is considered more formidable, as in
war, politics, or sports. You may think the words are synonymous, but
they are not.The point is, Utah won the game, and did it
Sine when did Yahoo become basketball experts?
Sleeper might not be a good term. Yawner may be more appropriate.
they will make absolutely no noise in the tournament LOL
Well "sleeper" as in 'home asleep' while everyone that is
actually good is still playing. Sure I'll agree with that. lol
Not a tournament year for the Utes; but we should be a solid NIT team.
