Why should the legislators and governor be so eager to relocate Stericycle to
Tooele County when the Division of Air Quality gave Stericycle a notice of
violation for exceedances of emissions and mis-reporting data in May 2013 and
the Department of Justice is investigating? Why is Stericycle pushing for
incineration in Utah when in other places Stericycle has facilities they are
using non-incineration technologies?
We own this state. If we don't want stericycle then why can't we just
force them out? Go to Texas and pollute there. We don't want it!
It is time for the press to disclose what the real costs are? What is the
payment by the state to push this company to exile in Elbe? And now we need
to watch deal and movement of prison to Tooele.
"Some speakers wondered if the plant might be a financial boon to the county
in terms of tipping fees, permits, new jobs or even the cogeneration of
electrical power."People never cease to amaze me. They will
place their own health and well being and that of their family in danger just
for the prospect of a few dollars. This plant has been a bad neighbor, and just
because your bad neighbor moves doesn't mean they will be a good neighbor
It would seem that Tooele has had its share of pollutant type materials and is
finally being able to see and end to that type of exposure. I read recently
that the Division of Air Quality gave Stericycle a notice of violation for
exceedances of emissions and mis-reporting data in May 2013 and the Department
of Justice is investigating. Tooele is a place that people can afford to buy
homes and is growing wonderfully. If the state of Utah wants to help Tooele
avoid further contamination type materials, bring in either a clean
manufacturer, electronics, or something that does not contaminate the soil or
West of Tooele? How far west? Tooele County extends all the way to the Nevada
border. I believe the border is at least 80 miles west of Tooele. Surely there
has to be somewhere out there in never never land for this facility. Why does
it have to be close to Tooele or Grantsville?
Just as Tooele gets rid of the war materials incineration project, Stericycle
wants to move in and fill the void. It is time to recognize that a sensitive
desert climate is NOT the place for this kind of pollution.
Clean air and water is the best choice for citizens long term health. Pay now or
pay later. If pollution created by this process can be brought down to the
equivalent of 6 semi's why not take that pollution and filter it down or
incinerate to one semi diesel engine worth of pollutants. Pay now and not
have to clean up the mess later and deal with health issues that can't be
fixed.Look at which representatives are for this legislation and see if
political contributions were given by companies or citizens that will benefit
from its enactment. This is just using good logic and using fact checks to
insure laws that are in the best interests of the public.
UTAH-----Dumping ground of the west.
