Good run to end the half.

Last home game of the season(unless we don't win the tournament like Coach K said we would). Been a great season. Thanks to all the players and coaches for putting Utah back on the road to March Madness glory.

Utah WILL beat our rivals today.

I don't see any chance we lose this rivalry game today.

If we win the tournament there will be SEVEN pac 12 teams in the tournament.

Second best conference in football to the SEC
Second best conference in basketball to the Big 12(with only 10 teams)

A bad loss here to Utah will almost certainly take Colorado off the bubble and into the CIT with Utah. A Utah win helps the Cougars, how sad for Crissy and the haters...

    Total beatdown!

    I called it.

there was just no way we were going to lose to our rivals.

Remember when we were going to finish last in the Pac 12

Remember when we were going to lose to byU?

Remember when we couldn't dominate ASU?

Remember when we had zero chance to beat UCLA?

And no we can't win the tournanment like coach K promised we would?

    I like our chances!

    Rivalry Beatdown!

Nice win. I'd love to see them get at least one of these last two on the road, and then win two in the conf tourney. That would be PAC 12 coach of the year material for Larry K.
    Go Utes!

    Good win!

Nice to see Loveridge get out of his shooting slump. Hopefully he can continue his good form on the road next week. If so, Utah has a great chance of winning both games. Both Cal and Stanford are beatable but we need Loveridge and Taylor to both show up and help out Wright.

    Go UTES!

Dominant second half after a slow start. Hopefully play like that second half will be what we'll see in these last two games and into the conference tourney. Sitting at #7, pending Oregon's game at SC, they still have an outside shot at 4th or 5th seed in Vegas, though NCAA at large hopes probably went out the window between the losses at Wazzu and in OT against UA.

And considering coach K has already said we'll win the tournament, I'd hate to miss what could be an incredible tournament

Lets show up and support our team Utes! Who's with me?

Coach K has done a tremendous job this year and should be PAC 12 Coach of the Year, but the California schools are always in the limelight. I expect that Utah will be at the top of the standings with 24-25 wins next year, and in the NCAA Championships. I just hope Coach K stays after next year.

    @utesonthehill,

Why not get excited about winning the Pac 12 tournament like we may do first before you get excited about next season?

Or get excited about beating theses last two teams?

There is a LOT of basetkball with March Madness very much a possibility if we just play our game

The good news - U out performed expectations by 4 or 5 games, and U had several close loses.

The bad news - I expect many college and NBA programs to try to lure Coach Kry away from the Utes over the next few months.

You are talking about Utah, aren't you? You know, a team that is 1-7 on the road this season and a team that has only won TWO PAC 12 road games in the last three seasons COMBINED!

Nice win by the Utes, but the next 2 are on the road and the Utes have very little chance of winning the conference tournament. Oh, and Chris B, if the Utes did win it, the Pac would still only get 6 bids max, that is reality. Pac better than the big 10 and Acc in basketball...I don't think so, but keep dreaming big.

Another great win by the best team in the State of Utah. Utah jumped from 93 to 80 in the RPI just think if they sweep Cal and Stanford on the road they could move into the 60's even with their weak preseason conference games we played against teams from the wcc mwc and others. This has been a great year for a rebuilding Ute team.

  • Old But Not Stupid Moorpark, CA
    March 2, 2014 12:10 p.m.

    My Perspective-

    Up late I see.

If by SCL UT you mean Salt Lake City, it is 715 miles NORTH as the crow flies.

While Coach Krysto has done a good job rebuilding, he "ain't" Coach K--except in flyover country. Why do you have to copy the trademark of such an icon who has ~850 more wins than Krysto? That does not improve your relevance.

BYU9293's comment about only six PAC-12 invites was "correction" an over-exuberant Ute fan who was projecting seven invitations.

How sad little brother is today. I feel like most of them would rather see Utah lose than BYU win. Utah is clearly on there way up rapidly, why do BYU fans feel the need to downplay everything Utah does, especially when it doesn't even apply to them? Talk about obsession.

  • CougFaninTX Frisco, TX
    March 2, 2014 1:16 p.m.

This lost was costly to the Buffs. If the Buffs lose the last two, which is likely, they will not be asked to the dance.

It will be interesting to see how U do against Stanford on the road. Remember BYU took it to them.

  • Uteology East Salt Lake City, Utah
    March 2, 2014 3:12 p.m.

    @Crow

RPI is 78 according to ESPN (BPI 34).

Cal has lost 3 of last 4 by 15+ points. Utah has a great chance to beat Cal. I think that Stanford will be the more difficult game.

Can we sweep? Utah is 10-0 when 4 ore more players score in double digits. Wright is the only player that has been consistent all year long regardless of arena.

Which means we need Loveridge and Taylor to carry their good form on the road. We also need at least one of the following three Onwas/Tucker/Bachynski to step up.

If that happens look for Utah to sweep and the RPI to be around 63.

We say Coach K because typing "Coach Krystkowiak" every time is obnoxious. No need to take offense.

  • CougarSunDevil Phoenix, AZ

    AZUTE1

"Yes, because most certainly Stanford's the same, identical team they were in Game 2 of the regular season in early November as they are in the final game in early March....Outstanding comparison!"

So are you saying that it is entirely possible to say the BYU is the better team even though they lost head to head? It seems that many posts I read from BYU fans argue this point, but many Utah fans argue the head to head shows which team is better, period. BYU fans say that ratings matter (which have BYU ahead of Utah), but Utah fans still say head to head. I'm putting this out there in a non-antagonistic way. I just seek clarification.

  • Utefan4Lyf West Jordan, UT
    March 3, 2014 10:21 a.m.

CougarSunDevil: The way I see it, the ultimate way to determine who is the better team, when discussing head to head, is how they play each other head to head. I can tell you that Utah is better than BYU because they beat one team, who beat BYU, but it is better to say Utah is better than BYU because Utah beat BYU.

  • CougarCat Tucson, AZ

Have been watching the Ute fans' brave talk about winning the Pac12 tournament from down here in Tucson. Confidence is good. But can their guys win a road game over someone other than USC (1-15 in conf. play) ? Can they beat Stanford by bigger margin than our friends in Provo did? We shall see.

  • Protecting This House Salt Lake City, UT

Let's hope Wright gets similar contribution from his teammates on the road and in the tourney. The Utes are playing tough right now. Keep it up, boys! Go Utes!

  • CougarSunDevil Phoenix, AZ
    March 3, 2014 1:41 p.m.

Thank you Utefan4Lyf. I appreciate your comment. So then I would conclude that BYU is better than Stanford, which runs counter to AZUTE1's earlier comment based on your view. I think I would agree with your assessment on the winner of the head to head is more likely the better team. I do believe teams can improve or digress throughout a season, but since many teams only play once, There really is no sure fire way to determine who is better at any other given point other than on the head to head matchup. Utah was the better team this year against BYU.

    Cheers!
