We need to be very careful about becoming dependent on a Federal source to solve
an ongoing local problem because we will have almost no control over future
changes. Once we let the entitlement camel into the tent it will become the
master and Utah tax payers its slaves.
Telling the Feds to keep the money we have paid to them, and give it to some
other state, is just plain stupid. To top it off, tax us another 35 million to
help a small portion of the folks who need it is even more stupid. How about
setting rhetoric aside and doing something smart. The people who don't get
covered will be showing up at emergency wards for the taxpayers to shell out
even more to pay for.
Which is more stupid, supporting unsustainable and inaccurate decisions by our
federal government--throwing good money after bad--or setting up an independent
Utah safety net that will cover those most in need when Obamacare crashes under
the weight of the unsustainable decisions of the Executive, Senate, and Judicial
branches of our federal government. What part of the choice of the overwhelming
majority of people who don't want this law don't they get.
