Great list Brandon. There is a 21st kid (and probably several others) who are
great to watch as well. The 6'9" Rawson kid from American Fork is a
great player alongside Andrus. My son played against him twice this season and I
was very impressed with his game. Very long kid with great bounce, especially on
I would add a bunch of un-named players to watch. I am from Utah County so I
only know players from this area, but I'm sure there are many others around
the state who should be on this list. Here are a few: Zach Frampton from Lone
Peak (without him LP is just a two man show), Forrest Pincock (is top 10 in 5A
in 3 point shooting and assists, His three point shooting percentage against us
was probably 75-80%, PG doesn't win without him) Rawson (from AF is in my
opinion better than Andrus, he scored 24 against PG and Andrus had zero.)I can
think of others from Herriman, West Lake, and Lehi. Often times, unfortunately,
these "players to watch" lists just become a list of high scorers not
always the best players or only great players in the state.
Great list Brandon. There's a 22, 23, and 24th kid too (and probably
several more) who are great to watch as well. The Pincock kid from PG is a great
player, he is top ten in 5A in three point shooting and assists. And he is not
taking a lot of shots/his percentage must be way up there. The kid from Lone
Peak, Frampton, is a great shooter, Lone Peak wouldn't have the team they
do or their wins without him. And Alec Johnson from Herriman. These are some of
the players to watch. Also, don't be surprised if Herriman ends up playing
Lone Peak in the semis.
I totally agree with you Aubrey 1, the media has no clue what's going on
outside of Salt Lake County. Case in point, the only teams that beat a Cache
Valley team in the 4A State playoffs last year was another Cache Valley team.
Did anybody see that coming?...No, because nobody in the media wants to bother
to come up to Cache Valley see for themselves how tough it is in region 5.I know it's fun to talk about the top players, but a star player
does not a championship basketball team make. Usually, against any team with a
decent defense, the top player gets shut down and it's up to the rest of
the team to win the game.
