BYU fans thought he was a first round pick last year possibly, and for sure a
first round pick this year. Some even said he could get into the top
10 this year.And now he's likely a 2nd round guy?
Hope he comes to Denver and am excited at least one mock draft is showing that
Chris,It seems we both read the article. Thanks for the summary.
I am sure that some us us will sit at home and revel in the fact that Van Noy
will go as a second round draft pick. Some will be people on the Hill (picture
now that coy and devious smile that the Grinch on his hill gets) that it does
their heart good to see KVN not be in the first round. Some will be people who
are pleased that a guy who played well and gave his best in multiple facets of
life has success.Your choice: Be the Grinch who takes soul filling
pleasure in the failure of others, or be the person who is pleased when others
succeed. Or at least have the good sense to say nothing when they you otherwise.
He is like Todd Watkins and Matt Reynolds. Supposed first round picks (through
cougar goggles), but the rest of the world doesn't see it that way.
well, Van Noy does have the benefit of having played in bowl games each year and
also playing on teams with winning records…those things are major plusses
to anyone with a fair mind. I suggest most players are going to soon
understand when they sign with a team that they want to play on a winning
program and have weekly tv coverage of their games….not just an occasional
spoiler game and then back to obscurity. GO COUGS.
I'm predicting we won't know for sure whether he's a first or
second round pick until the third round...maybe a little earlier.
Chris, it doesn't matter whether he goes in the First, Second or even Third
round. He's going to make some good bank and he will be a productive
player in the NFL for years to come. Take a look around and you'll see
guys taken in the First round that were total flops, and you'll see guys
taken in the late rounds that end up being starters for many years. KVN will be
just fine, so don't worry about him.
Chris, you should be more concerned about making sure your 90% free throw
shooter's practicing his shots so next time he might make at least 1 in the
clutch than you are about where KVN will be drafted.
That would be sweet if KVN and Ziggy ended up on Detroit. However, it looks like
they are looking for a WR that would compliment Megatron.
Meant to say KVN ending with Ziggy on Detroit.
"The risk of falling into the early portion of the second round —
where team names like the Texans, Jaguars, Raiders, Browns and Bills dot the
board — is Van Noy may never have a realistic chance at a title with the
team he's drafted by." -- DNSo what? He never had a
realistic chance of winning his "Super Bowl" at BYU or a BCS game. He
still was a great player.
Re: Ken LeeVan Noy never beat Utah, but he enjoyed success against
high school opponents for the last 8 years.Congrats to BYU making a bowl
game, but who wouldn't with that schedule? BYU was 2-5 vs BCS teams in
2013 (and they didn't even play a conf champion or runner up).In 2014
BYU only plays 3 BCS teams (and 2 of them are horrible: Virginia and Cal).Rumors are BYU may play Timpview in 2015.
"Does Van Noy stand a chance at becoming a first round draft pick?"Nope, BYU isn't printing enough t-shirts to promote him.
Just the other day I had a truly avid Utah fan tell me that REAL Utah fans NEVER
bemoan or talk smack about the players of their rival. He claimed that when the
rivalry game was over, they always want the best for individual athletes. I
think that is true for both sets of fans. But where does that leave
many of those making comments on articles about BYU's or Utah's
@Chris BHmmm...sounds like you've been bit by the little
green-eyed monster. You still have KVN envy? I noticed we don't hear anyone
talking about the draft potential of any ute outside linebackers... as for KVN's first round potential, Mel Kiper Jr had him in the top half
of the first round in a number of his mock drafts and listed him the 2nd OLB
behind UCLA's Barr. Kyle's draft stock will rise after he's done
at the NFL Combine ("Mark it down!!") can you say the same about your
guy, whats his name....Travis Riley?? (something like that).
Good luck Kyle. The majority of all sports fans, regardless of favorite college
team loyalty, wish you the very best.To the other remaining
"fans" that are compelled to chime in... Mark your December 2014
calendar as 'free' and start booking your holiday travel now to get
the best deals.
Chris, I still think that he will go late in the first round but he could be a
second rounder... Either way, he made the right decision to finish out his
senior year at the college that he loves in front of fans that think so highly
of him... He gets a degree, he gets engaged to a beautiful girl, and probably
gets drafted at the same or better pick in the draft that he would have gotten
last year... All in all, another great decision by Van Noy...Not
many OLB have the stats that Kyle has, can talk about the BOWL GAME where they
basically took over, scored the winning touchdowns and was unanimously selected
as the game's MVP... BTW, for those on the hill who are unfamiliar with the
term BOWL GAME , that is a game a college team qualifies for based on W-L
records at the end of every season. And chris, whether or not Kyle is
drafted in the first or the second round the fact remains that he will likely to
be the FIRST player drafted from the Universities located in the state of
Utah... Again... nuff said.
Chris B and Riley M -Texas, GA Tech, Houston, Wisconsin, Notre Dame
and Oklahoma--yeah, those are high schools teams.More to the point,
you ignored the fact that this year opponents would avoid his side of the field.
This impacted his senior year stats that everyone seems to over-focus on.
Van Noy, BYU, and Utah State were the bright spots for Utah College football.May the force continue to be with them next year.
