I'm ok with the Jazz losing to try and improve our draft positioning. That
said, I thought there was some real clock mismanagement at the end of the game
that needs to be addressed. Also, if you were at the game and was booing Deron
while he was on the floor after a blow to the head you could use some tact
lessons. Hayward once again was struggling. At this point I'm glad the Jazz
didn't overpay to sign him to a long term deal in the off season. We need
that money to resign Burk and lock him up for the future.
When push came to shove the Nets walked away with the win. Experience prevailed
tonight on the home floor. Coaching included. We failed to respnd early enough
to cut ourt loss. What are coaches for?
This is so typical:Center Enes Kanter filled in nicely with 18 points and
10 rebounds. The media praising Kanter because he scored points and got a
few rebounds, while totally ignoring the fact that Blatche came off the bench
and put up 25 points because Kanter's defense stunk....A perimeter player
would drive for the basket, and Kanter would leave Blatche to pick up the driver
8'-10' from the basket, leaving Blatche standing under the basket
totally unattended...A few times, Hayward ran over and made an attempt to cover
Blatche, but it was an impossible situation.Point one: Kanter needs to
meet these drivers AT THE BASKET, not 8'-10' out.Point two:
Harpring made the comment that Hayward needed to get over and cover Blatche
sooner. Ridiculous! I would say the mistake was all Kanter's, were it not
for the fact that he did it so many times...I have to think he was told to do
it...Poor coaching...What's new?
Harpring thought the game was over in the third period. Kept saying how the
league was for young people. He is about as useful as a rubber beak on a
woodpecker. Time for him to go. As for Hayward he needs some time in the D
league to work on his shooting or hopefully will get traded today. He is
I'm starting to see that Derrick Favors needs to be given much more credit
for doing the grunt work on this team. They do not win when he is not in the
lineup and they nearly blew it to Philly when he left the game early. Except for
Jeremy Evan's leaping and blocking ability, and Rudy Goberts ability to
alter one or two shots a game, we have no low post d presence without Favors in
the lineup. Much as not having a real point guard cost us at the beginning of
the season, not having a strong guy down below hurts us every time Derrick
misses. Lets hope he's better soon and not injury prone.
Klinko is sorely missed even though he was highly overpaid. The "other
guy" is not.
I think booing is so incredibly rude....with the exception of an obviously
rotten foul call by the officials. (I confess that I've done it.) But to
boo a guy when he is on the floor with potentially serious injuries is the
epitome of tackiness and rudeness, I don't care who he is. Always fun to see AK-47. Wish we could have won. Perhaps Gordon has the
pre-wedding jitters???Go Jazzboys on Friday....good luck!!!
Gordon Hayward: 33 minutes, 9 points.
