Glad to hear that he is OK. I hate to see any player go down like he did. HHopefully he can produce at a huigh pace in the defeat of Gonzaga.
This is good news for Gonzaga. Him missing his free throws will help Gonzaga
pull out the victory.
Hopefully BYU does better against the conference leader than the utes did last
Chris B, Utah's Taylor missed 3 go-ahead free throws in OT against
Arizona...or so it was reported, so I guess that's on your mind. Are you
using mental powers to cause Cougs to miss free throws too? We'll see
tonight how that works out. Kyle C. is a great basketball talent, he will find
a way to help the Cougars win! The game is not won, nor over, 'til its
The Utes are improving but still cannot finish games at the end. A terrible shot
when they finally took a one point lead and then another terrible shot the next
trip down after Arizona had taken a one point lead back. Then of course the
choke turnover by Delon Wright when they had a wide open dunk. Hopefully
BYU learned how to win at the end when they did against a good team, St
Mary's in Cal on Saturday. They also shoot far better including foul shots
at home just like the Utes do but they have proven they can win on the road
"This is good news for Gonzaga. Him missing his free throws will help
Gonzaga pull out the victory."That's got to be the funniest
comment I've read from a Ute fan in - well one day - given the 4
consecutive bricks the nearly 90% Taylor brilliantly laid in the clutch to help
Arizona pull out the victory last night.
Christine,I'll take a 90% free throw shooter who misses 4 in a
row in a big game than a guy whose never made 4 in a row all season and shoots
65% all day long!
CB"I'll take a 90% free throw shooter who misses 4 in a row
in a big game..."Precisely why Utah will always be a perennial
conference bottom dweller; Utah's big men disappear in big games,
especially on the road.Utah's once BMOC, Loveridge, was a
complete no show last night, 7 points on 1 of 12 shooting, and throwing up a
brick from the stripe with a chance to give Utah the lead late in the game.
"I'll take a 90% free throw shooter who misses 4 in a row in a big
game"Enough said. I suppose you're happy with 7 points on 1
of 12-also with a critical free throw brick-from the supposed team star? Or
I'm sure you're thrilled with the high and wide right pass into the
stands from your new quarterback too?Anybody who thinks 4
consecutive bricks in the clutch from a 90% free throw shooter is anything short
of a monumental choke is just too emotionally involved.
Chris BWhy would you take a guy that caused you to loose. We all
want to have 20/20 hindsight, and you have it yet you still would take him? Go Utes!!! um, yeah, i guess.
If he could make more free throws, he'd be an NBA guy.
Admittedly, Kyle C is not a great foul shooter. But he obviously makes up for it
in a lot of other ways. He usually fills a stat sheet quite impressively with
assists, rebounds, steals and total points. Utah certainly
could've used his passing talents toward the end of their game last night.
That wildly errant pass changed the entire complexity of the game for Utah and
very well could've been the reason they lost. That and bricked foul
shots. If BYU wins tonight, there's no doubt Kyle will be a big
part of it. No one in the state or the conference drives to the basket better
than he does.
I think Chris B has started something here. During Jimmermania fans coined the
phrase, "You got Jimmered" along with a number of variations of that.
Thanks to Chris B, anytime a player bricks or chokes on a shot we can say,
"He really Jordaned that shot!" or "Man, in the closing seconds he
Brandoned 4 straight free throws and snatched defeat from the jaws of
victory!"It's good to know that he prefers guys who choke
in big moments
And when Kyle goes to the line late the game, byu is already 4-5 points lower
than they would be if he had made earlier foul shots.you byu fans
are flip flopping and spinning all over the placeAnyone who would
rather have 65% kyle go to the free throw line instead of 90% taylor
wouldn't last too long in coaching.LOL
Chris...It's better to have a consistent 65% free throw shooter
than a 90% shooter who chokes when the game is on the line, especially if the
65% player contributes more in other ways.Collingsworth is also a
great defensive player. It does no good to score 2 points on one end of the
court if you immediately give them back on the other. He doesn't do
that. There's a whole lot more to coaching than just looking at
percentages. Human nature in various situations needs to come into place.
It's not an exact science.By the way, which BYU fans are
"flip-flopping" and in what way? Without some evidence, such a statement
is desultory and meaningless. There's obviously a good reason
you aren't currently a college coach.
Chris B:How is BYU losing 4 or 5 points at the end a game from a
65& free throw shooter? If you do the math, he would have to shoot 12 to 15
times in that short period in order to lose that many points. That obviously
isn't going to happen.Perhaps you would should avoid being
either a coach or a math instructor.
For the record, his stats are as follows: 105-179 or .587%. If you take the
number of misses divided by the number of games played he misses 2.64 free
throws per game on average. That certainly isn't a perfect model but gives
you an idea. Some games he may miss more and some games he may miss less. A
better statistic for this discussion would be how well he shoots them down the
stretch. Or better yet is he improving as the season goes on. When he does get
it figured out he is going to be awesome. Getting to the free throw line that
many times (second behind Tyler Haws (184-211) is an ability every player wishes
To all who respond to Chris B, try your best to ignore his comments. He
certainly does not represent this Ute fan and any others that I know. I am
convinced that he posts just for the reactions of others without any any thought
behind the posts. Good luck to the Cougars tonight.
BYU is going to be eating some delicious humble pie tonight!
UteNationAlumUnfortunately for U, BYU is serving up crow to all of
