It is illegal to BASE jump in the national parks. For a very good reason.

The thought that one must flirt with death to experience and enjoy life seems to be a total disconnect to me.

I cannot fathom what a mother or father, grandparent or other family member or friend would be thinking about this.

    Shaking my head.

IMHO, too many people die in pursuit of recreation and play.

Sad incident. Victim makes it sound like she had no hand in the matter. Unless somebody else packed her chute, that doesn't seem quite accurate.

If base jumping isn't allowed in the park, then someone should be fined. Our national parks and recreation areas are not amusement parks for death-defying activities.

The dangers of this Dare Devil lifestyle seems to over whelm the YouTube generation. RIP Amber Bellows.

If you play with fire eventually you will get burned. Plain and simple. To foolishly throw your life away just to get a thrill is pretty ...foolish. Sad for the parents and family. Plenty of ways to enjoy the out doors without living on the edge.

You cannot cheat on the law of physics.
Why is it considered a fortune in our time to everywhere jump or climb at risk for fun ?

An aircraft can still maneuver since it is built to fly without you, helos and parachuts
cannot ! There is no backup system in place.
Going for it despite, you have to calculate your life to be terminated.

It is a very sad thing for the family.

What a sad story :( My condolences to her loved ones. R.I.P.
She died living her dreams. It's unfortunate that she didn't think of those who might lose her in the process of making her decision!!!

Reminds of the man who jumped off the arch recently. Apparently there was a rope tied around it. Not enough to save his life. I see a lot of risky behavior among the younger generation. texting and driving, skateboarding down busy streets, ignoring traffic laws on bicycles, street racing. Actions have consequences.
