There can be no ggod outcome from a tragedy such as this case. No punishment
society can inflict brings back this young child or takes away the suffering
Ethan went through. Justice demands that his killers spend a very long time, if
not the remainder of their lives, in prison. Ultimately, they will have to
answer to a just God for their actions. It does comfort me to know that Ethan
is now beyond mortal pain in the arms of a loving Father in Heaven.
An abominable decision. Sloop can plead what he wants, but the judge
doesn't have to accept it. Insanity? 25 years? All other charges dropped?
If I ever saw a death penalty case, this is it. Deeply disappointed in the Davis
Irony Guy, I agree 100%. If the death penalty isn't for cases like this,
then why do we even have it? Perhaps the mother to this poor child will get an
even tougher sentence (wishful thinking; that'll never happen). If this
Sloop guy was "suffering" from a mental illness while inflicting such
atrocities on this innocent child... Then even MORE reason to hold the mother to
further accountability. She should have protected her child from him even more,
not knowing what he was capable of doing. Oh wait... She was "afraid of
him". As if that is a good excuse to let someone abuse, torture, and kill
your child. I am disappointed all around in the handling of this case. Words
cannot express how sorrowful I am for Ethan's father.
I read this and want to cry. There are simply no words. Rest in Peace little
Here is another example: "Wheeling and dealing" attorneys, a
"slapwrist" judge, and a little boys blood cries out from the ground. I
hope they can all sleep with themselves at night. Another nail in the coffin of
our criminal justice system, and maybe, just maybe an opening for eventual
vigilantism and even greater injustices.
I have no problem with this on one condition and one condition only. Nathan
Sloop mus wear a white t-shirt every day with bold black lettering that says
"I killed and tortured a tiny child" he never ever should get solitary
confinement and must remain in the open with death row inmates at all times. If
those conditions are not met, then I do have a problem with this ruling
There is no doubt that God allows "evil" and does not condone it. You
have to know that the angels came for this young soul as they do for all of the
Sloop is not insane; he did not want the child to interfere in his love life
with the child's mother. Sloop is a sadist but not crazy.
Only 25 years for torturing to death a boy to death over the course of a week?
You've got to be kidding me. Not even a life sentence??? This is
unbelievable and a sham.
I followed this case with horror at the time it happened. It was, and still is,
so very sad. This little boy did not want to come and stay with his mother, and
his father didn't want to let him go, but the courts made him. When, oh
when, will the judges and courts listen to the instincts of the parents and the
wishes of the child? My heart aches for Ethan's father Joe. At least Ethan
is in a safe place, loved and happy and free from harm. And the perpetrators of
this awful thing will receive the ultimate justice from God. Hugs to the family.
I have 9 children and almost 26 grandchildren. I can only imagine the pain you
are going through.
