Good for him. But no one pays attention to these things unless they involve
similar declarations of faith from Mormon athletes at BYU. Then cue the
Perkunas, nobody cares if somebody makes a declaration of faith. But when an
athlete declares that they were victorious because they are more righteous than
the opponent, then there is outrage....and deservedly so.
What?? How dare Kevin credit his Savior Jesus Christ for his success on national
TV. I mean who does this guy think he is?? Doesn't Kevin understand that it
is not PC for a super star athlete in the US to mention anything about his
Christian faith. MSNBC will most likely edit and sensor these remarks and the
NBA will most likely expect Kevin to offer an apology for his appalling mention
of Christianity. All sarcasm aside - I have new found respect for
Kevin Durrant!! A breath of fresh air for a change.
A laugh is probably the best way to respond to such claims about fictitious,
magical, superstitious declarations.
The reporter laughed at a silly response? How is this news?
Their win was inevitable...god had a few bucks on the game.
I have found the comments by The Scientist to be entertaining, insecure and
fictitious in portraying the declaration of himself. Kevin Durrant is a standup
@The Scientist:Why such animosity towards religion? If you
don't believe in it, why spend so much time on a news site targeted to a
primarily religious audience, and why spend so much time insulting and deriding
people who believe in God? I
Nothing new here. Unfortunately most of the media dislike Christianity.
You know…. the funny thing is this is nothing new. African American
players have been giving credit where due for a long time. That is why the
whole Tebow thing puzzled me. But that aside, good for Kevin for setting a
superb example. Way to go!
Brave Sir Robin"But when an athlete declares that they were victorious
because they are more righteous than the opponent, then there is outrage....and
deservedly so."If you are talking about Austin Collie, he did no
such thing. It is funny, because just a few years earlier, Coach Whit
and Quinton Ganther both blamed a Ute losing streak on the team's failure
to "live right off of the field".
to patriotPlease. You can't watch any sporting event w/o seeing
an athlete thumping their chest an pointing to the sky. What happened to Matthew
6:6,7?These are athletes not Rhodes Scholars. At least, Durant is
not a glory hound like Tebow, Lebron James, or Deion Sanders.
Dear LDS Scientist:Thank you for your remarks. I concur.
I still find reasons to be glad I was moved out to Oklahoma City!
