Doesn't this "function" fall outside the bounds put forth in the
Congress has been blocking nearly all Presidential appointments so far, so the
answer is already known.
Considering the disaster at the diplomatic compound in Benghazi, this would be
just another diplomat with a target on his back. Nothing like promoting
religious freedom to work up the ire of a few terrorists. Why
doesn't the President promote religious freedom around the globe like some
previous presidents have done? An accurate response may be, "He
doesn't, because those are not his priorities." For
example, promoting religious freedom would require us to give more moral support
to the Israeli nation and less to Iran.
I recommend the religious freedom ambassador start with Afghanistan (where the
last Christian church was recently burned down), then head over to Egypt (where
Coptic Christians face increasing levels of violence from the Muslim
Brotherhood) and then come back to the US Department of Health and Human
Services. It would be nice if the new ambassador could explain to Secretary
Sebilius that forcing Christian business owners to provide birth control and
abortifacients undermines the free exercise of religion.Religious
liberty--vanishing from the Muslim world, Europe and increasingly from the US.
@ gmlewisHouston, TX"For example, promoting religious

really intrigued and somewhat confusedby your statement. Therefore, I would love
to know your rationale.
