Very insightful. This column continues a long tradition of Doug Robinson writing
superb columns on drug use in professional sports. Frequently he has been
criticized for questioning the energetic denials by some athletes, but as far as
I can tell, Doug has never been wrong.
Right on Steve Warren
Doug has written an insightful article, BUT it seems very quaint and naive in
today's world to even discuss performance enhancing drugs in baseball. The
nation is going down the toilet, but we care about athlete drug use?! We have
a president who proudly bragged about using mind altering drugs and might still.
I can only WISH he would use a performance enhancing substance! The public
still elected him again. Rodrigues LIED to the public about cheating in a
sport!?! Remember Bill,Clinton! who lied to the world about the most sacred
responsibility he has, and he got re-elected to the then most powerful and
influential position in the world! Now we have dangerous, mind altering
substance being legalized in states!!So, I'm sorry, Doug. Who
cares if athletes us performance enhancing drugs? By their obscene salaries we
know fans want to see their increasingly "great" performances? But, we
want at them mto play by the rules. We want an equal playing field! We have a
president, congress, and judicial system that have totally ignored the
Constitution. So game players cheat--who really cares? Time for people to
focus on things that REALLY matter!
stopping A-Rod? I don't think so. Last time I checked the man gets at least
175 million no matter what happens...and all that money for a cheater. Baseball
is killing itself with these insane salaries.
AJC this is a symptom of the decay that our nation is currently on the path of.
There are no standards of conduct any longer. No morality. No adherance to any
code except the get me more power. No one takes responsibility any longer. We
should be concerned with cheating. It has permeated our society to the point
that nearly everyone does it and some are lauded for it. It is acceptable to
cheat, be it in politics, sports, school, church, etc. People don't feel
that the rules apply to them. That is currently being played out with the
President and Congress.
