I wish Deseret News would do more stories on women doing something with their
lives in addition to being moms. Good for this woman and hats off to her
husband for being courageous enough to help his wife follow her dreams and
fulfill her capacity.
A quick response to chinookdocotr. Let us never forget that the greatest role a
woman can fulfill in this life is to be an effective mother. I am concerned
that the comment; "...doing something with their lives in addition to be
moms." has an undertone that perhaps someone who spends a majority of thier
time being a mom simply isn't leading a fulfilling life or allowing that
person to: "follow her dreams and fulfill her capacity." I know many
good women who have sacrificed much for the good of their children and have no
doubt they will be rewarded greatly not only in this life, but in the life to
follow. My congratulations also to our Mormon athlete we are proud of her and
@ Jumpin JackThe story is about a woman and mother pursuing her
dreams. Why make it anything more? Good grief, some people just cant leave well
Jumpin Jack: I think you are jumpin' to contusions. Our society
doesn't have the expectation that a man will do nothing else with his life
than be a dad. Yet, being a dad is the single most important activity a man
will ever do. Women are AT LEAST as capable as men in fulfilling parental roles
and "doing something else."
Thank you for the story. Wish more could have been told here than a few
paragraphs. Chinooki- just let the DN do the stories it wants. U
