What a heartbreaker for Smith. He put up as good of a stat line as a QB could
dream of having in a road playoff game, and his defense blew it for him.
Smith played really well...not his fault that his two best running backs and
corner backs got injured early in the game.
Smith: 30/46 (65%) 378 yards 4 TD 0 INT @ 13th ranked pass defenseKaepernick: 16/30 (53%) 227 yards 1 TD 1 INT @ 24th ranked pass defenseThat offense sure got explosive with Kaep leading it this year...
Don't forget the Mike McCoy, coach of the Chargers, is another Ute!
I put the Chiefs defeat squarely on HC Andy Reid who I normally admire. He
elects to go for a field goal on 4th down with time running off the clock to put
his team up by six points. I said at the time that Andy was setting his team up
to lose by one. Which is what happened. Andy should have gone for the first
down or a touch down in that situation. Even if that failed the Chiefs still
would have been ahead by three and maybe they lose by four instead of one but
more likely the Colts feeling less pressure to score a touch down have to settle
for a field goal, tying the game and sending it into over time and thus giving
the Chiefs another shot at winning the game. Dumb move by Andy but great game
played by Smith. He was lights out.
Alex Smith will never win the big games. Thank goodness the 49ers now have
Ed Grady,Alex Smith has already won big games. He won the Fiesta
Bowl and he won playoff games when playing for SF.
Dutchman:You take Smith - I'll take Kaep.
