Point of clarification - the annexation area will continue to be covered by
Unified Fire and Police. Except it will be through the contract through the City
of Holladay rather than through SL County.
Ummm, may I be so bold as to ask: why does a photo of the Salt Lake City and
County building accompany this article? This building serves only Salt Lake
City, and despite its name, no longer has anything to do with the county,
including Holladay, East Millcreek or any part of the county outside of the Salt
Lake City limits.
Honestly, I think we need to see more of this. These unincorporated areas need
to either join with one of the surrounding cities, or make their own. I would
personally like to see more of the former versus the latter, especially where
the smaller areas are concerned. It will allow for better distribution of
UFD's & UPD's resources, and will ease (theoretically) the tax
burden on other county residents who already pay their local cities for these
resources IN ADDITION to what they pay the county to have entities serve as
