Way to go, Aggies!- A BYU fan
A great win, next year happy valley should empty and go support the team.
Great game Aggies! We loved watching it!
Not too bad for the third best team in Utah.
I'm a BYU fan who loved this game. You represented us well. Keep on
Just a random fact, but USU is the only Utah football team to beat a ranked team
away from home this year.
I respectfully disagree; USU actually IS the best college football
"Team" in Utah this year.In fact, with 5 starters physically
unable to participate, including the BEST QB this state has seen in several
years, it was the USU "team" that pulled together, worked through
adversity, made themselves Bowl-eligible, kept themselves relevant, and then
(not-so-surprisingly) rose to the challenge of knocking off a nationally-ranked
opponent to end the season.Led by a fantastic coach in Wells--whose
staff and players believed in him, as he reciprocated trust and belief in
them--USU easily epitomizes what it means to be a "team". Nearly every
tackle was a "team" tackle, every sustained offensive possession was
because each "team" member fulfilled their role and helped each other
out. And the Special Teams players had great success by working together. The success of USU should not go unnoticed by its in-state equals, else
their arrogance may have them walking away beaten by the true "Team Up
North".Way to go Aggies! You have successfully obliterated the
"Little Brother" stigma and unlike some of your counter-parts have a
post-season appearance and trophy to show for all your hardwork.
Kudos to a true top 10 defense. I am impressed.
Aggies rock! The pride of Utah was squarely on your shoulders and your team
delivered! Thanks! Coach Wells has shown that he is head coach material and
the Aggie's future is very bright. One interesting point: I noticed that
4 or 5 starters came from Juan Diego High school including Jamie Marcosian (OL).
Some credit obviously needs to go to Anderson for spotting the talent and Coach
John Colosimo for developing it. Coach Whit you might want to looks locally for
some corners before they sign at USU!
Finally, I can announce the boycott of BYU is over. Since the collusion of BYU
and UofU, keeping USU out of a respectful conference, I have refused to set foot
on these two campuses.Although I work within 5 minutes of BYU, I have not
set foot on their hallowed ground. Four of my children have graduated from BYU,
(which is fine). I would have liked to have attended their graduation, but my
principles would not allow. With the resurgence of USU, I am going to attend my
first basketball game at BYU since 1962. Here is wishing all Utah teams a
@ Thidder:To not attend the college graduations of 4 of your
children out of a sports feeling dispute is downright silly. Family should
always come first. Missing those ceremonies is something you will never be able
to go back and re-do... even though your boycott is now over. Sad.Since Utah is sitting home again for the holidays, they are basically out of
the discussion for best team in the state. And since BYU beat USU so
convincingly during the regular season, a lot will depend on how BYU does
tonight in deciding who has represented the state the best. BYU also clobbered
an at-the-time top-15 ranked Texas team who won the BIG-12 and will now soon be
playing in one of the BCS bowl games. But USU has done their part with a great
victory over a nationally ranked team to finish their season. If BYU
comes up short tonight, then USU alone will hold all the kudos. My hat is off to
them for a great game last night. It was fun, exciting and entertaining to
watch. Hopefully, they will keep the momentum going next season, too.
@ Rock arent you going to compare the baby steps to Utah beating Arizona in the
Freedom bowl and eventually making it to a BCS bowl. Is that the next step for
the Aggies? @Black & White Best team in the State. You could
not even beat an under performing Ute team this year at full strength. Utah won
head to head over USU, Weber St, and BYU proving they are the best in State.
Crow…who cares about best in state? USU had a fabulous season
considering what obstacles the team had to overcome, had a great bowl victory,
and can celebrate as one of the toughest, if not the best, team USU has ever
had, perhaps the toughest in the state? Utah and BYU considering their
recruiting talent are the "best under performers" in the state. GO
Crow, the utes were the best team early in the season but teams should get
better as the year goes on, not worse. At this point in the season, USU and byu
are the 2 best teams in the state.
@Crow..., unfortunately you missed the entire point of my quotation marks. With all the expectations that USU came into their inaugural season in
the MWC, and the legitimate hype about their stellar QB, they could have easily
tanked it once their star went down to a season-ending injuries--just like
another team in the state did. But, instead they re-grouped,
re-comprised themselves as a "team", followed the incredible leadership
of their Head Coach and improved every single week, right up to the MWC
Championship, and even though they lost to a VERY GOOD Fresno squad, they
re-focused again and went on to beat an even better nationally-ranked
opponent--and they did it all as a COMPLETE "team"--not as a bunch of
starry-eyed, selfish, individualistic players with no unity. They
could have folded it in, but they didn't. They could have said
"What-if", but they didn't. Instead, they beat all the odds and
nay-sayers (esp. local ones) and proved that they belong in the same sentence as
their equals in SLC & Provo.BTW, beating a woeful in-state FCS
team is not something worth bragging about.
@Tators"BYU also clobbered an at-the-time top-15 ranked Texas
team who won the BIG-12 and will now soon be playing in one of the BCS bowl
games."Uh...who are you talking about? Texas? They finished
fourth in the Big 12 and will be going to the modest Alamo bowl this year. Also, BYU only beat USU convincingly because USU lost their QB. It is
pretty difficult for a defense to hold onto the game when the offense with a
brand new QB is going 3 and out. All this talk about 'best
team in the state' is a joke. They are all quite even right now.
Tators,Texas won the big 12 and is going to a BCS Bowl?Where did you read that?LOL!
Utah State is the best team in the state you can dwell in the past all you want
but at the end of the day Utah State is the only team that finished.
