    Wow what a fun game!

Congratulations Aggies! You have proven for the second year in a row that you are the best football team in the state. Such great defense and offense, how could that be? I thought such performances only came from 'power conferences'?

Ok Byu now it is you turn to represent - get 'er done!

Didn't we used to have another football team from our state? I forget...

Defense and a good run game won that game for the Ags. Great job by the O line which made up for their last game and Joey was a man.
I like the future for USU, they have a great base of talent and experience and a coach who has now proven he's for real. If they can continue to recruit the local's like they have this will be a fun program to watch for at least Coach Wells tenure.
Congrats Aggies. What a great season!

I have never been more proud of my Ags. They finished the season strong despite a truckload of adversity. This victory provides precious momentum going into next season, too, so that's a nice bonus.

It's also nice I don't have to hear anything from trolls way down south or on the hill. Double bonus.

    Go Aggies!

So much respect for Matt Wells, the Aggie football team and all Aggie fans everywhere. Tremendous game, tremendous season! Way to lead the way! Here's hoping my Cougs can follow your example.

Great win Ags. You played to your strengths and got it done. Okay Cougs it is your turn. You go get it done. From what I saw Mr. Lynch is lucky Taysom didn't go to NIU. If he would have Lynch would be standing on the side line with a clip board. Ag's defense was absolutely dominant.

Watched the second half. A nice win for USU. They really came full circle this season.

Congrats to the Aggies for a well played game. Your defense was excellent -- completely dominant in the second half. And just enough offense to seal the deal. Well done.

That makes my night - These young men have worked hard and been so close to a lot of wins. Tonight they are the pride of the State and deserve this night.

Way to go - Well done men.

That is a team that got better as the season went on. Chucky getting hurt almost derailed the Aggies but they grew as a team.
Great job by Coach Wells and Coach Orlando. The Aggies are a serious team. Congrats on a fine season.

"Over the course of the season USU allowed only 13 points on 16 turnovers given up."

    Absolutely astonishing stat!

The Aggies should be a pre-season Top 25 team.

Sadly, another good season by the Aggies and Wells may be lured away by a bigger salary -- 85 miles down the road.

One Husky team down one more to go tomorrow. Go BYU! Good luck to Utah in their bowl game tomorrow as...oh wait....

Utah State is clearly the second best team in the state behind BYU.

Epic second half Aggies!!! Their coach was far too cocky going into the half. Aggies out coached and out classed N. Illinois. Great season and looking forward to having Chucky back with a solid qb backup.

"Didn't we used to have another football team from our state? I forget..."

Do you mean the school which beat usu w/CK and registered their annual victory against byu? The one which played against a real schedule, a real/legitimate week in/week out grind, this school?

Enjoy beating a niu team which played against the #113 ranked SOS!

BTW, the school w/the #110 ranked SOS and beat usu, fsu, got straight annihilated by USC! Enjoy!

p.s. Imagine playing against UT/Utah/Wisc/ND in back-to-back fashion? Personally, I absolutely love such a challenge, since I'm a real competitor! Obviously, you people aren't!

Not even Chris B or Stango can spin a negative on this one (except downgrading the MWC conference or calling this a meaningless bowl game). What an exemplary effort against a ranked team; the second half defensive effort was Herculean. Congrats Aggies, you represented USU with distinction.

BYU fan here, great win for the Aggie. The Aggie have been great to watch this year and to come back after losing you starting QB. The Aggie have a bright future in football and I wish them the best in the future and look forward to BYU vs Utah State games.

Great win for Utah State but I have to laugh at those who forget that Utah beat both Utah State and BYU. Not going to a bowl game doesn't change the fact that the Utes were the best team in the state this year.

  • Justmythoughts Provo, UT
    Dec. 27, 2013 8:02 a.m.

That was a great game. USU's defense was stellar, holding a top ten offense to two scores. NIU's quarterback looked over rated... I got sick of all the gushing over him by the ESPN announcers.

A terrific win for a terrific group with heart and character. As a BYU fan, I'm excited to be part of a new rivalry with a program that represents with class and dignity.

Nothing but good will for the Aggies and best wishes for a re-newed healthy group of student athletes next season.

Well Done, Matt Wells and company!

Great game Aggies! Way to represent the state. Coach Wells has done an amazing job even after losing their best player and leader. Not sure how Lynch was a Heisman finalist. Now Byu needs to take care of business.

Loved watching the Defense. So impressed with how they have played the last half of the season. They are so disciplined and play as a unit. Best parts of the game was when the Aggie defense was on the field.

Way to go, Aggies! A big time win! First year in the MWC and hard to be more successful. (Only wish Utah could have recovered from the loss of their starting quarterback the past several years in a like manner.) Truly an entire team effort - coaches and every player. Way to go.

    @AZUTE1

"Enjoy beating a niu team which played against the #113 ranked SOS!"

Thanks, we will! A win over a ranked opponent is still a win over a ranked opponent.

"BTW, the school w/the #110 ranked SOS and beat usu, fsu, got straight annihilated by USC! Enjoy!"

Oh, the same USC team that USU nearly upended on their home turf? At least my Ags gave the Trojans a game. U didn't have to face Marqise Lee and U got BLOWN OUT. Enjoy!

"p.s. Imagine playing against UT/Utah/Wisc/ND in back-to-back fashion? Personally, I absolutely love such a challenge, since I'm a real competitor! Obviously, you people aren't!"

I guess the Utes only became competitors in 2011 when they joined the PAC-12. I guess those WAC/MWC championships (all six of them) and bowl victories U won in the past 50 years aren't worth very much since it wasn't against "real" competition, right?

Hope U enjoy being a PAC doormat. It could be that way for a while if Whitt doesn't get it together.

  • JLFuller Boise, ID
    Dec. 27, 2013 3:13 p.m.

It seems like only yesterday the Aggies were sucking air from the bottom of the pile. Year after year they got stomped by everyone. Talk was consistent about them needing to go back to the Big Sky where they could complete. They were not a competitive 1A program and had become an embarrassment to the WAC. But with a couple of new thinkers at the helm and some support (finally) from the boosters and suddenly Utah State is a force. Good job boys. Good job to the new thinkers at Utah State University.

  • A1994 Centerville, UT
    Dec. 27, 2013 5:26 p.m.

    @Sambonethegreat

Don't take AZUTE1 too seriously. When a fan states talking about strength of schedule year after year, they become part of that elite club known as Washington State, Colorado and Cal. Utah fans never said much about 'SOS' when their team was tearing up the MWC and giving the big boys a run for their money. (Those were better teams than they have now.) Utah State is in a very similar position Utah was in 10 years ago. Emerging as a leader in a decent conference and almost always with a chance to win the game they are playing in. The Utah and USC game could have gone either way this year. Same with Wisconsin last year. They've got Chuckie and a chance to open up with a win at Tennessee next season. It's a good time to be an Aggie fan.

  • Tators Hyrum, UT
    Dec. 30, 2013 12:45 p.m.

    @ Max:

The word "were" in your comment is key. The Utes were the best team in the state for 2 different days this past season. Just like they were the best team on that one day they played Stanford. But everyone and their dog knows that the Utes would be extremely unlikely to repeat those wins again if they were to replay each later in the season.

The Utes won a few single-day battles, but lost the season-long war. All unbiased national ranking services now verify that by ranking both USU and BYU ahead of the Utes. A fact you and Chris B will have to learn to live with.

  • tinplater scottsdale, AZ
    Dec. 31, 2013 9:05 a.m.

@Tators....one of the best comments here! Chris B probably won't see it. He tends to surface as the first response in each USU/Utah/BYU story leading one to wonder does he need to get a life rather than sitting at his computer at 3 am to be first on?
