Smart letter. Today we have people cut off from food
stamps…. Happy Holidays.
Too bad the highly-moral Governor hasn't gotten so worked up over the
Imagine a similar financial arrangement for the expansion of Hill Air Force
Base. Herbert would not have turned that down. This is a sad day for Utah.
A very intelligent letter about a very simple subject. It said it all. There
are people starving and needing medical care in our State. They could more
easily receive if politics by Herbert were not involved.
Well at least he got to show us how much he hates President Obama, and
isn't that more important than 100,000 Utah residents having access to
Of course some of you blame the Governor. Since government is your source for
food, for clothing, for housing, and for handkerchiefs to wipe your nose. You
have lost all ambition and you have lost the concept of agency and
accountability. You want life handed to you on a platter as if the
"government" needs to provide you a banquet.Just who pays
for your "banquet"? Did you ever stop to think that every "free
gift" the the government "gives" you is paid for by those who have
not lost their ambition and have not forgotten what agency and accountability
mean?Sure, you can blame the governor, but why not get off your
couch and take care of your own responsibilities? But, you won't do that.
It's so much easier to blame government for not sending a limo to drive you
to the food bank or to take you to your "free" doctor's
@Mike RichardsMost of us complaining have health insurance. We just happen
to care about what happens to other people too. There's a friend
of mine who doesn't have health insurance and doesn't qualify for
Obamacare subsidies because she makes an income level that the ACA assumed would
be taken care of by getting the Medicaid expansion. Now that states have the
option to not expand it there's a donut hole of sorts that exists that
people in these red states are falling into. Now we could just fix that by
expanding the range of who qualifies for subsidies so that those not getting the
Medicaid expansion at least get that... but Republicans refuse to do anything
that doesn't involve tearing down the law.
I second the nomination, underscored by his efforts to maintain a law deemed
alt134,The Constitution does not allow any person to receive
anything for his personal welfare from the Federal Government. General Welfare
is not Personal Welfare. If you want to help someone with his
health-care needs, YOU can open your wallet and give all that you want to that
person or to his health-care providers. YOU can show your love and concern for
that person by transferring your wealth to him or her. The government is not
authorized to force me to open my wallet to help YOUR friend. As a Christian, I
help many, as many as my funds allow. There is no compulsion from my church to
do that, but my church teaches me to live as Christ lived. Christ NEVER asked
the government for assistance. He NEVER asked the government to force anyone to
be kind or charitable. Those who mix Christ's teachings with ObamaCare
know too little about Christ to understand that He abhors force and that he
taught and still teaches through His prophets, agency and accountability. Not one Republican voted for ObamaCare. Not one. Almost every Democrat
swallowed "forced charity", hook, line and sinker.
To "Bob Velkinburgh" by not expanding Medicaid like the feds wanted, he
actually is saving the state in the long run. The strings that the Feds
attached to the expanded Medicaid bill would have hurt the economy more once the
federal funding dried up. The Federal Government is the "Scrooge" here.
The Feds want to set up the poor houses, have you pay your taxes, and let the
government care for the poor. Why should we give up future freedom
for a few dollars now?
I nominate Bob Velkinburgh.

Utah's unemployment rate, 4.3%. Wow a lot of people have jobs thanks to
wise governing of this state. A lot of people have health care through those
jobs, thanks to Gov. Herbert. No one is ever denied health care. The
emergency room must treat everyone. So the claim that choosing not to commit to
a losing program is leaving people without health care is just plain false. BTW, Conservatives donate more, in dollars, in percentages, and in time
than liberals. Religious people donate more in dollars, in percentages, and in
time, to SECULAR causes, than secularists. Those donations are in addition to
what they give to their church. The Grinch award of the season goes
to the ACA proponents, broken promises and all! They don't want to donate
to help poor people, so they make laws to make someone else pay to help the
To "Happy Valley Heretic" lets look at how silly you sound. The Grinch didn't like that others had more happiness than he did. So,
he used force in an attempt to redistribute what he determined to be a "fair
shair" of happiness to all. In the end, his attempts to redistribute
happiness resulted in Whoville finding an alternate means to obtain happiness,
one that the Grinch didn't understand. It wasn't until the
Grinch understood how happiness is created that his happiness increased. Now, replace happiness with wealth and the Grinch with the Federal
