He mentioned how excited he is "to be back in bcs football"Yes coach, we know what you mean. Seeing as how the PAC 12 is now
10-1 against the Mwc this year, we know how much better it is being in the PAC
So did Erickson really find out about his demotion from the salt lake tribune?
Not a chance whittingham does something that low right?
His offense last year was 54 in the nation in points per game. A local Mwc team
that has a prolific go fast go hard offense was 53 in the nation. So utes, lets
get ready for a go fast go hard offense lighting up the scoreboard!
CB--"Seeing as how the PAC 12 is now 10-1 against the Mwc this

today, 45-20.Regarding this hire, Coach DE was well aware of/on
board with it long, long before the sl trib knew about it....Go Utes!
Azute, if DE was ok board with the demotion what reason would he have to act
surprised when contacted? Or is your position that the salt lake tribune is
making that part up?
GreatHow about the guy who broke the story, Trevor Amicone, who
tweeted that he could confirm with absolute certainty that Erickson knew the day
before? What you don't know is what was Erickson surprised at?
Was he surprised that it went down as quickly as it did? Was he surprised that
all the coaches stayed on as well? Who knows, but the fact that he is staying
around for 2014 shows that he is absolutely on board with this.Great
Hire by Whit.Go Utes!!
Pocy, I simply was saying what was written in the tribune. Monson from the trib
said it was a surprise to erickson he was hired. I don't know for myself, I
can only comment on what I read.
Sportsthat's great, but I'm trying to provide a bigger
picture for you. My guess is that Monson was going off of what Lya
said, which was Erickson was surprised by the move. My point is, this move
doesn't get done without Erickson signing off on it, which is being
reported by some premium sights. In fact, one report is that Erickson was
expecting DC at a different coaching position. Frankly, I think Lya
and Monson were both trying to stir up trouble and make an issue out of a
non-issue. This a great move by Whit. He just replaced Jay Hill
(who was a great recruiter and a huge asset to the staff) with Christensen who
has almost 30 years of coaching experience including being a really really good
Sports Are Great,Lya said that DE was "surprised by the
move." This could mean, as you infer based on your question, that Lya
surprised him when she brought it up (shocked him). More likely though from
what I gather from other sources (premium pay sites which say he has advance
notice and Kragthorpe's piece which is just his speculation by the way) is
that when Whitt told DE about it, he was surprised by the move (i.e. he was not
expecting the change).
Oh brother Chris B.....what has Utah and Colorado done for The PAC 10.2? All you
have done is build buildings and rode the coat tails of others in this
conference, which is why you continue to put down the former conference you once
belonged in. Move on and help this conference out....and quit hiring new
offensive coordinators every year. By the way...how has
Christensen's offense done against BCS defenses? 0-and what??? Can't
wait for the Trojans to play this "new" fix for the SETU next year!!!Go Trojans!
The MWC had more teams go to Bowl games this year, than when the
"other" Utah schools were members. glad the MWC is doing better now.
The Aggies would do just as good in the PAC 10.2 as the Utes have done.
@ Chris B:Being in the PAC12 would be fun... if you were part of a
program that could actually competitively compete in it. Beating just a total of
1 conference team with a winning record over a 3 year period is not actually
competing by almost anyone's standards. There's a reason Utah is
changing offensive coordinators after every season... and it's not because
they've been playing competitively. Beating your in-state foe
is all fine and dandy. Have at it, Chris, if that's your bowl game for the
year. But having to settle for a once-every-3 years upset victory (the Stanford
win) as your only conference bragging right is truly coming up short. Recruiting
is going to get more difficult now that the Ute team has been home for the
holidays multiple years in a row. That's a big turn-off for quality
potential recruits. It pretty much negates all those PAC12 stickers stuck in
their faces... that are now starting to fade in color.
A few months ago, Chris B was ridiculing the heck out of the concept of
"go-fast, go-hard" type of offense when BYU incorporated it. And now
he's actually singing its praises since their new OC is in favor of it.That turn-around is faster than most good politicians could do it. Can
anyone spell hypocrisy?
@ Chris B:It's pretty obvious the Aggies had much more fun
earning respect playing very competitively in the MWC than the Utes had in
further losing respect in the PAC12 this season. And it's also
pretty obvious that the Aggies, as a MWC leader, had much more fun winning their
bowl game last night against a one-loss nationally ranked opponent, than the
Utes had in sitting home just watching that game and all the other bowl games...
again. I'm certainly glad we have at least 2 local teams
competitive enough to represent our state in the college football bowl world...
again. After their 3rd new offensive coordinator in 3 years, it
kinda makes a person wonder if Dr Hill and coach Kyle are wondering if Utah bit
off a little more than they are able to chew in joining the PAC12. So far, the
results haven't been encouraging. All those PAC12 stickers need something
done with them. Oh well... there's always next year... again.
And the sun will still shine as long as the Utes can eek out another win against
the Y. Oh-oh... not for at least 2 more years.
4 OC's in 4 years, does that signal panic or what? When Utah barely beats
the other bottom feeder in the PAC 10+2, Coach Whit panics and hires an OC that
has beaten....no one. The Aggies held the Cowboys to 7 points, and that was a
fluke play. If the Utah fans are praising this as a great hire they are kidding
themselves. Today their best receiver declares for the draft, he sees the boat
is sinking big time and is leaving. The Utes are in a tough predicament. They
are stuck in a conference that they will never be competitive in, and playing
teams that they can't recruit against successfully. In 3 years they are
moving the wrong direction. There is a bigger gap between the Utes and the best
teams in the PAC 10+2 today then when they first joined the conference.
