He is welcome. I feel mgmt should trade if anything (picks?) nice is offered for
him. He might think highly of himself but he is too inconsistent to be of too
much value to the jazz team right now.
Jefferson has seemed like a class act since being here but let's face it,
he is lucky to be getting this chance to play big minutes. With his "gun for
hire" attitude however I say let's accommodate him right now and trade
him to a bad team for their first round draft pick next year. It could be
attractive for another team too because he has a big contract that is coming off
the books after this year that will free up money to sign free agents next year.
Another positive for the Jazz that is developing is the pick in next
years draft from Golden State. Golden State was picked to be one of the top
teams in the West this year which would mean the draft pick would be at the end
of the first round. Last night they lost at home to the Spurs who played without
Duncan, Parker, or Ginobili. They are 14-13 right now and not on the playoff
picture which puts them into the lottery if things stay this way. More lottery
picks in next years draft is awesome.
Ah yes, another Jazz player who is so enamored with the Jazz ownership, coaching
staff, and living in Utah that he wants to stay here for the rest of his career.
Who doesn't want to play for a title contender? Why doesn't
he be a key player to make the Jazz a title contender?
I take no issue with Jefferson's comments. I don't blame him at all
at this juncture in his career and how teams so readily trade or cut players.
Smart move Jefferson. Bite the hand that feeds you. Management should start
shopping him now and cut the strings before he poisons the younger team members
Richard Jefferson is in a very different position than the core of young Jazz
players who have time to be part of rebuilding Utah into a championship
contender again. Realistically Jefferson may not be able to play in the NBA for
more than a couple of years. I wish him well wherever he goes.
Meh he won't win anything couldn't win against Duke(which I loved) why
would he win an NBA ring?
Jazz should move Jefferson before the deadline for second round picks.
When I lived in San Diego, near LA and near Seattle, Jazz fan were noted for
being among the most knowledgeable in the league. My, how things have
changed. If Jefferson is traded, the Jazz have to take something of
approximately equal value in return. Second round picks won't do it.
Jefferson is in the last year of his contract which creates cap space for the
Jazz if they don't trade him. If they do trade him, they probably have to
take someone back whose contract is not over at the end of the year so they lose
that cap space. The Jazz don't need cap space to sign a top free
agent (although I know that is still the dream of many fans) but they need the
cap space to retain Hayward, to extend Burks and Kanter, and to sign their first
round draft choices without going over the cap. If they are playing to lose,
then they not only want to stay under the $72M penalty cap but also under the
$55M-ish cap that makes them revenue receivers. When did emotion
replace thinking for Jazz fans?
He was a "hired gun" for San Antonio. My guess is Popvich decided that
was not working out to well which is why he got shipped out. Can't say I blame Jefferson though for wanting to win now as his career
is ending. If we could unload him for a decent draft pick and an
asset we wanted on contract it might be worth looking into. Its not
like him being here or not being here is going to matter a hill of beans to the
future of this team.I think Richard sees himself in somewhat of an
inflated view but that would not surprise anyone about an NBA player with that
problem would it?Alec Burks is ready to take Jeffersons spot
anyways. More minutes for the young guys.
I think most fans would agree to let him go anytime. Burks should have started
in his place a long time ago.. Trade him for Jimmer, Thompson, and a pick..
Jefferson is old. The Jazz won't get a first round pick for him, especially
I don't blame him for wanting to play for a championship team at this stage
of his career but how stupid was he for publicly saying it? With that knowledge
Corbin will be equally as stupid if he wastes any minutes on him.
