Congratulations to both players for making second team all-american.

By the way....how many stars did these two players have coming out of high school? Let me guess...5, 4, 3....;nope both were 2 star recruits.

..how can that be Chris B?

Su'a-Filo was a 5 star recruit, and ranked by some as the best O-lineman in the country. BYU's o-line really could have used him.

    KVN - 4 stars
    Filo - 4 stars
    Larsen - 2 stars

Congrats to all of them. All should get a shot at the NFL

    Su'a Filo - 4 stars
    Tyler - Larsen - 2 stars

You should do your homework. Tyler Larsen is additional evidence that under-rated players can emerge as stars, but the recruiting services usually get it right.

Hmmm, I guess that makes Kyle Van Noy the best linebacker in Utah. I sure hope that wasn't a disruptive thing to say.

What accomplishments these gentlemen have made. Congradulations to you all. Van Noy is an extreme example of TRUE GRIT and proof of that commitment enables great change and feats. Thank you for setting such an incredible example to us all.

    Ironmomo,

    How can that happen?

    Because they are good.

    Where did you get confused?

I have never said stars are always right. I just said that overall stars matter.

If you don't think so, you must think its a pure coincidence that Alabama has been among the highest STARS in recruiting the last 5 years and has been among the best teams.

    Coincidence?

    Nope!

Does high stars guarantee wins for a team?

    No.

Guess what else doesn't guarantee wins?

    Speedy players
    Strong players
    Smart players
    Good coaching
    Not fumbling
    Not throwing interceptions
    Scoring lots of points

You going to try and convince people those things don't matter since they don't guarantee wins?

    LOL!

    @ Chris B

Just curious how does 7 in a row sound to you.. LOL

    BYU 110

Ironmomo, Are you seriously suggesting that a team full of 2 stars is no different than a team full of 4-5 stars? Wow.

Texas has been ranked as high or higher than Alabama in recruiting the last 5 years, yet Texas was pummeled by BYU this year and barely beat the Cougars by a single point at home last year. The Longhorns finished 5-7 and weren't even bowl eligible in 2010.

    How do you explain that?

Poor coaching by a coach who coached the Longhorns to a national championship in 2005?

    Iron,

Did you just totally make that up(lie) to try and put me down?

    And it backfired big time!

    Lol!

What? An Aggie and Cougar and an outstanding local kid who went national on the list, and no ute?
Richard and Chrisb, how can that be?

I thought I saw somewhere that Nevin Lawson Utah state CB also made 3rd team All-American.
But maybe that was just for a USA today pole.
