This horrible law, which no one read and was pushed into play needs to be
repealed before it does any more damage to this country!!
Ah, the unintended consequences of big government.I'm paying the same
amount I was before the change, except my family deductible of $3,000 is now
$6,000 per person. And I pay 100% of my doctor's office visits. And the
big, new hospital in town is not available to me.Hope and Change,
indeed! But wait, there's more. In 2014 I could be forced to pay a tax
on this plan due to my family income level.Expect more backlash as company
plans get switched over.
Why is this a surprise? It is how the government normally operates. Obama care
defenders have claimed that getting dropped by your carrier is good because you
had junk insurance. Now you have higher cost and fewer options. We had a
situation where 85 percent of people were at least reasonably happy with their
insurance. Insrtead of creating a limited program to help the rest get
insurance, the Democrats rammed through a one-size fits all government takeover
that has resulted in higher costs and fewer people actually insured. Vote
Democrat because they will have a great new government program to fix the
results of their last great new government program which was meant to fix the
great new government program before that.
Day by day, hour by hour, ObamaCare keeps getting uglier and uglier. Pelosi was
right -, we would learn more about the health bill after it passed, but she was
also WRONG - we do not like it.
The devil is in the details.
As if this isn't how insurance has always worked. The Connecticut
Democrats are right. I had a heart attack 13 years ago. At the
time the hospital I was taken to accepted my insurance and I basically
didn't pay anything for a week of care. Since then solely because of
changes to our existing employer sponsored plan (an employer with 270,000
employees) I have had to change cardiologists numerous times, hospitals twice,
and my personal deductible is $5,000. All of this long before Obama was
elected. I've had the exact same experience with
Dermatologists, so all that's happening is the folks who have limited their
choices and services previously are having to play in the real world of American
health care. Yes, "you can keep your doctor" was a really
dumb thing to say because it wasn't true long before Obamacare came along.
I've had to change doctors several times - due to private insurance plan
changes. It must be that darn ObamaCare.
Stunning that people are now only figuring this out. Just goes to show how
shallow most of the electorate really are!! Well I guess things can still
continue as they have for the past dozens of years, those who cant afford the
deductible, will leave their balance for everyone else to pay, or go bankrupt.
Wait a minute...didn't the anointed one and his worshippers and followers
fix all this with their 3000 pages of obamacare legislation?
"U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal — piled on the insurance company,
calling it arrogant, greedy and unconscionable," - SENATOR BLUMENTHAL WAS
RIGHT!. He was right not only about the insurance company, but the same can be
said for many of the DOCTORS and DENTISTS who are bleeding the economic life out
of citizens. Sadly, many of these practitioners don't want to accept
patients from lower paying sources - they want to maintain their huge incomes
despite the fact that America can no longer affort the out of control costs of a
broken and ineffective healthcare system that is far inferior to healthcare
systems in other industrialized nations whose systems cost far less! It's
time for consumers to wake up and shop for value driven healthcare organizations
and providers. The incomes of working people have not kept up with the out of
line annual increases the healthcare providers have been receiving for many
years. Wake up people!
Years ago, when no one expected any other type of insurance network...People were always unhappy and grumbling about their health insurance, wishing
it had "this" or wishing it had "that". There were unable to
obtain health insurance then that was "really what they wanted".
RBB is right that all that was really needed was insurance coverage for 15% of
the people if the whole purpose was to make sure that they had insurance. But
adding more people to the insurance rolls was a poor option if the intent was to
reduce health care costs.
Meckofahess,Clearly, you have no idea what goes into a doctors life.
Lets start with the 14 years of post high school education that costs in the
hundreds of thousands of dollars to finish. Next, lets take into account all of
the sleepless hours and hours away from their families to learn and practice
becoming a doctor. Third, lets take into account once they are done they have
to pay back the large house size loans. At least 50% of their paychecks are
taken before they ever see anything to pay for your free healthcare, free food,
free phones, free name it. Then they go to work and take care of many, many
patients for absolutely free because that's what good people do.
MeckofahessPart IIFinally, just so you know that little piece
of paper that you get when you go to the doctor that says that particular doctor
charged so much and your insurance paid them so much less is all a stupid game.
After all of complaining you do about how doctors should do their work for
free, why don't you give up your entire paycheck for everyone else and see
how it feels for awhile or better yet wait until there aren't any doctors
because no one in their right mind would go to that much work to do it for free
and watch everyone else get their free entitlements. Coming from the wife of a
physician that does not own the big house and even if I did. Clearly you feel
that you "deserve" stuff. No one deserves free stuff. You work for it.
Entitlement will be the downfall of this nation.
It's all the fault of those greedy insurance companies! They want to make
money--so greedy! And those doctors, and hospitals--so greedy too! How dare
they charge so much? Why, the only people not greedy in this scenario
is the people who aren't getting it for free! That's what we need to
do: force doctors and nurses and insurance companies to stop being greedy so
liberals don't have to pay for healthcare, because liberals are, by
definition, not greedy! And all those greedy Republicans who aren't paying
their fair share so liberals can avoid paying anything for their healthcare!
How greedy and selfish of those Republicans to complain about being forced to
pay for lazy shiftless bums healthcare! I mean, how could you not see how
it's greedy to not give everything to liberals on a silver platter for
free? Shameless Republicans! And probably racist somehow too. Greed Greed Greed! If you don't give me whatever I want, you are the
greedy ones for holding on to your hard earned cash!
And those who voted for Obama based on this lie are finally seeing there's
no such thing as a free lunch.
Meckofahess - so why are doctors "bad people" for not being willing to
accept lower paying plans? Are plumbers who are not willing to accept whatever
you offer bad people as well? The truth is that physician pay is not really
increasing as is claimed. Family physicians like myself, are making less per
patient now than we made in the past. The same is true in most specialties.
Medicare is continually cutting reimbursement rates for many of the things we
do, and increasing the paperwork necessary to get reimbursed for those tests. If you think doctors who won't accept these reimbursements are greedy,
you should be happy with your limited choices of providers who are not
"greedy". Why would you want to see a doctor who is not willing to
accept the lower pay? If it is reasonable in the liberal mind for a
16 year old who barely has the skill to flip a burger to get $15/hr, how are
highly trained physicians overpaid? It is a free market and physicians are free
to charge what they like and accept whatever insurance they choose. We already
lose money with Medicaid patients, hence decreased access for those people is
Keep in mind folks -- most of the bad things we are finding in this law was
predicted before it was passed but no one would believe so now we will face the
