Awesome game for Portland. Wow, Utah's coach is terrible. He pulls out his
leading scorer and perhaps his best player in the 4th when the game was being
decided. He needs to be let go. Utah should go after Hollins, George Karl,or
McMillan as their next coach. You Jazz fans can always say
we're young, we're learning etc., well Portland has a younger team
than Utah....and Portland is at the top of the Western Conference. No excuses
Jazz fans. Go Blazers!
@Denver to Portland,Your points are well-taken. Knowledgeable Jazz
fans have been taking Corbin to task for two years. His tactics are
questionable at best, and his lack of results is obvious. More distressing is
the lack of player development.
@Denver to PortlandThe Jazz core players are younger than Portland.
Biedrins, Jefferson, and Willams are the only "old players on the team and
they are all in the last year of their contracts. The core players for the
Jazz, Favors,Kanter,Burks,Burke, and Hayward make up the youth movement and those
other guys will be gone next year and replaced with a great draft pick or 2.
Marvin Williams might get resigned if he continue playing well but I suspect it
will be for less than the 7.5 million he is making this year.
Jazz fans why are you always talking about developing young players. Lilliard
didn't need time to develop, he was great immediately. Aldridge is the
same. Look at the stars in the NBA, they were the best from the beginning and
barring injury remain way ahead of the competition throughout their careers. The Jazz have average players who will only get to above average if they
work hard. This group will never compete for a championship maybe not even the
playoffs no matter who coaches them. You are closer to being the next Toronto,
Minnesota, or Charlotte than you are San Antonio.Favors will be like
Chris Bosh a fairly good number 3. Hayward will be a less defensive Kirilenko,
Kanter is good offensively but will always struggle on defense. Burke will never
be a top five PG most likely will always be in the 10 to 15 best point guards in
the league. Burks will be a good bench scorer nothing more. After that there is
nothing that will help the future. You are still two legit stars
short of even having hope for the future. Get use to losing.
I agree totally with "goforits" last sentence of "getting use to
losing", especialy if the Jazz decide to continue on their current course.
How sad! Hey Miller, how about taking a proactive approach and make some
decisions on improving the team? Perhaps you could begin by getting another
coach. We just can't continue for the remainder of the season with the
lame excuse that we are "teaching, and giving the young guys a little
@goforit...Your post misses the problem completely....Where the Jazz miss the
boat is in the fact that when you rebuild a team, the first piece you need to
have in place is a coach. Assuming you intend to rebuild with young players,
this coach should gather around himself a team of coaches who are
teachers......You can tell a player how to take position on defense over and
over again, and he might not get it...Sometimes you have to show him how
it's done.As for the individual abilities of the team members,
it's impossible to tell what the potential of any of them actually
is...Most all have only been coached by Corbin, and have probably
regressed....Your observations are somewhat akin to a guy who plowed and
fertilized his field and planted his seeds....then hired a gardener and left it
with him. The gardener never irrigated, and left the field after a week, saying
these seeds are no good....None of them came up......When
you're building a team, just like when you plant a garden, a lot of
nurturing is required. Without the nurturing, nothing comes to fruition.
Half empty or half full?I prefer to look on the bright side...The JAZZ could possibly...finally...be #1.At 4-19, the JAZZ
are on their way to possibly the worst season in the history of the
franchise.8 of the next 11 games are on the road. The
JAZZ are 1-10 on the road. The JAZZ are making steady progress toward
12-70.9-73 is the worst record in the history of the NBA.This could be a record breaking season.Buckle-up!
It is the same result because it is the same coach.. remedy ?? get a new coach..
Denver to PortlandWhy would the Jazz want Portlands old junk Nate
McMillan? He's even worse than Corbin.
There You Go Again. It's called tanking. It's no use to
even compete unless you have a bonafide superstar. Jabari Parker is LDS and he
will never leave if the Jazz get him.
"You are closer to being the next Toronto, Minnesota, or Charlotte than you
are San Antonio."Charlotte is currently a playoff team. They
just beat the Warriors last night which has sent them out of a playoff spot and
into the lottery which is good new for the Jazz because they own the Warriors
pick in a star studded draft. Parker and Wiggins on the same team will all but
assure the Jazz a decade worth of championships.
Sorry to say but there is no way Parker and Wiggins end up on the same team. And
with Stern secretly picking the ping pong balls Jazz will be lucky to be picking
@goforitshould i remind you about Chauncey Billups?...how about
Steve Nash?...he only produced in his 5th year...some stars...are actually
developed...so you cannot say that stars are stars from the get go....its not
absolute...some are developed...but....when looking at the lineup....there are a
long ways to go....Hayward...if he could shoot efficiently...would be a solid
number 2 option...but right now...i feel he is a 3rd option....Burke is
good...but i agree not top 5...but..a team won without players on the top
10....or top 20....detroit...with billups hamilton sheed and ben at
tayshaun....they knew their roles...played in a system that worked to their
strengths...and they won it against a stacked lakers team....im not expecting
the Jazz to win anytime soon....but to say that no team can win with stars...is
false...you can win...its just a matter of playing to your strengths...a winning
of course burke won't be a top 5 pg any time soon. I think he will be a
good pg for us, but he won't pass cp3, d will, d rose, westbook, lillard,
rondo or others any time soon. doesn't mean he will be a bad PG...the nba
just has a lot of good ones. and for the record, that's not my top 6,
those are just names i could come up with while writing this comment. I would
like to get a new coach, but it's not likely to happen this year. until
then, i hope corbin does a good job.
